Star Symbols

The most popular symbol among the Pythagoreans (they used it to identify with each other), the Pentad is a five-pointed star that also denotes other things. Nicomachus, a Greek philosopher who studied the pentad and its relationship with the Pythagoreans, said that "righteousness is five."

It is popular in US logos identifying ambulances, paramedics, and all other emergency medical services or ambulance personnel. It is a complex eight-pointed star. Formed by two squares with the same center and turned at an angle of 45 degrees, it represents eight forms known as Ashtalakshmi.
