So, citrine is a variety of the quartz group, a relatively inexpensive semi-precious mineral, has a color from light yellow to amber-honey. Transparent, luster - glass. This is a natural gem, which is quite rare. According to the classification of E. Ya. Kievlenko, it belongs to class IV precious stones.

What is lemon quartz then?

It so happened that most of the citrines are processed amethysts or quartzes with a smoky color. To get a yellow mineral, they are simply heated to certain temperatures, due to which they lighten and acquire yellowish tones. However, unlike natural citrine, such a stone will have a slightly noticeable red overflow. Here you should be careful and carefully consider the structure of the gem.

Important! Natural citrine does not have saturated colors. As a rule, it is a pale yellow shade with a barely noticeable effect of pleochroism.

But lemon quartz is false citrine. Such stones are obtained exclusively in the laboratory, that is, artificially grown, synthesized. Thanks to science and modern technologies, scientists manage to give such a stone a bright and saturated color, remove various defects that are found in natural crystals anyway.
