Rhodolite was isolated as a separate mineral thanks to the American mineralogist B. Anderson. It happened in 1959. However, the gem was known long before that. In fact, rhodolite is an aluminosilicate, it contains silica and aluminum. In addition to these impurities, magnesium is also included in the composition of the mineral.
