How to recharge stones and crystals for lithotherapy

Once you've cleared and cleansed your stones, it's important to recharge them. This step allows your minerals to return to their optimal energy balance so you can continue to use them and reap the full benefits.

There are various ways to recharge lithotherapy minerals. It should be noted that not all minerals are suitable. When you reload your stones, be attentive to their specifics and find out about it in advance to avoid the risk of damaging them.

In this article, we will start with a detailed description of each of the main methods of replenishment of mineral reserves : exposure to the sun, exposure to moonlight, charge of an amethyst geode or crystal cluster. We then detail methods to use for some of the most popular stones.

Recharge Stones in Sunlight

This is definitely the most common method of energy recharging of the mineral. This popularity is due to three things:

  • Charging in the sun efficiently and quickly
  • This charging technique easy to implement
  • The energy that the sun gives us free and no investment required (as opposed to reloading in a geode for example)

How to recharge your stones in the light of the sun? Very simple, all you have to do is put your minerals on a windowsill, directly in the sun (not through glass) and leave them there for a few hours.. Your stone will absorb sunlight, transform and store its energy, which it will then return to you when you wear it or work with it.

How long you need it to charge depends on several factors: the natural load on the stone, the aspect of the sky, as well as your location on the planet.

The natural energy charge of your stone

Some stones are inherently "stronger" than others and require a longer recovery time to reach their full potential. A transparent stone, such as selenite, recharges much faster in the sun than, for example, hematite. While you can leave the first 1 hour in the sun (preferably in the morning), the second one will easily spend several hours, even the whole day.

The appearance of the sky

Is the sky overcast or is the sun bright? This aspect is relatively marginal because even with overcast skies the sunlight remains extremely strong and your stones will reset. However, this will determine how long you want to leave your stones in the sun. When the temperature is high and the sun is hot, your stones will charge faster than under gray and rainy skies.

Where are you on the planet

In the same vein, you need to consider the intensity of solar radiation where you live. Again, this is a minor difference, but it is this very small change on an astronomical level that creates the vast diversity of climates on Earth. If you are in Oceania, naturally, you have more intense solar radiation than, for example, in Northern Europe. This way, recharging your stone in the light of the sun will also be faster.

So, how long do you charge your stones in the sun? Depending on the various conditions mentioned above, we could answer "between 1 hour and 1 day". As you already understood, there is no standard measure that would apply to all your stones in exactly the same way. In the end, it is by getting to know your stones that you will feel when they recharge and when they need a little more time.

Charging stones in the light of the moon

Of course, the lunar body does not emit its own light, since it only reflects the light of the Sun. This reflection has the property of providing light much softer and thinner while retaining its original energy. For this reason, it is recommended as the preferred recharge method for more delicate stones that do not tolerate direct sun exposure.

How to recharge your stones in the moonlight? Again, it's very simple: You just need to place your minerals on a window sill that will have moonlight falling on it. Again, it is important that this effect is direct: if you leave your stone behind closed glass, the recharge will not be as good and fast.

Even more than with direct exposure to the sun's rays, the aspect of the sky will play an important role. If the sky is overcast and pitch black, your gems won't be able to recharge.

Observation of the lunar cycle

The visible part of the moon will affect the reload efficiency. On a moonless night (what is called "new moon" or "new moon" in astronomy), you logically cannot use moonlight to replenish your minerals ... Similarly, if you find yourself in the first or last crescent and only a small part of moon, recharging will not be as effective as during the full moon.

Charging stones on a full moon

Thus, the ideal lunar phase for recharging your stones and crystals is the full moon. It is at this moment that the moon reflects the light of the solar star with all its illuminated face. If the sky is also clear, this is an excellent way to recharge not only the more fragile stones that deteriorate from direct exposure to the sun, but also all your minerals. Do not deprive yourself of exposing them to this from time to time, it can only be to their advantage.

How long to charge your stones in the light of the moon? In any case, you can leave them there all night. If the sky is especially overcast or you are in a less lit moon phase and feel like your stone still needs to be recharged, you can of course repeat the exposure.

Reload rocks into an amethyst or quartz geode

This method is certainly powerful and even ideal, but it requires a good sized geode or cluster, which is not always the case. But if you are lucky enough to use this recharge method, it will also be the easiest of all. Just put your rock in the geode and leave it there for the whole day.

The shape of the geode, which allows you to surround the stone and bathe in the energy it gives, is perfect for this type of recharge. The most suitable are amethyst and quartz geodes, but a crystal cluster is also possible. In this case, preference will be given to rock crystal. Here too, all you have to do is put the stone on top of the pile and leave it there for the whole day.

The geode or cluster should not be exposed to direct sunlight, and for this reason this recharge technique can be used with all gems. If you are looking for geodes, you can find them on our online store of minerals.
