How to clean quartz crystals

Speaking about the cleaning of quartz crystals, we can mean two types of it. The first is cleaning the mineral from dirt, dust, stains and plaque, and the second is energy, which allows the stone to get rid of informational “garbage” and retain its miraculous properties.

In this article, we will look at both types, which will help preserve the appearance of the stone and its energy.

Cleaning quartz crystals from impurities

Any stone from time to time needs to be cleaned of various kinds of contaminants. This allows you to save its appearance and extend the period of "life". It is known that dust can gradually destroy the structure of gems, provoke the appearance of hard-to-remove spots, which subsequently simply spoil the jewelry.

To clean the stone in a physical way, you must:

• hold the mineral under a stream of clean running water for several minutes;
• immerse in a glass of water, in which you first need to add a couple of drops of ammonia;
• rinse again with clean water;
• blot with a soft, dry cloth and leave to dry completely in a well-ventilated area (but away from the sun and heaters).

There is another simple way:

• prepare a weak soapy solution (ideally - based on laundry soap);
• moisten a cotton pad in it;
• wipe the jewelry, including the quartz crystal.

If the quartz is not smooth, but embossed, then you can use a toothbrush, but only with soft bristles.

Of course, the best solution for cleaning a quartz crystal would be to take it to a professional, that is, a jeweler. He will not only select the most correct cleaning method, but also check the strength of the stone in the caste (if it is an ornament), and also apply special compounds to the gem that will protect the quartz from dust, fading and other damage.

Energy cleansing

In other words, this is the cleaning of the aura of the stone, which makes its magical and healing properties stronger and more accurate.

These events are mandatory for quartz crystals that were previously owned by another owner (as a gift, inheritance, family jewels)!

There are two ways to energetically cleanse a mineral:

1. Submerge it in saline solution. For 200 ml of cool water, you need to take 15 g of ordinary salt and dissolve well. Quartz can be left in water for 2-3 hours. Then it should be blotted with a paper towel or soft cloth and held a little in the light (but not in the sun!).
2. Take coarse salt and pour it on a saucer. Place a gem (or piece of jewelry) on top, cover with a clean paper towel and leave overnight.

Salt is a strong energy magnet. It draws out all the negativity that accumulates in the mineral.

The last days of the lunar month, before the new moon, are best suited for cleaning the energy of the mineral. It is believed that these days quartz is the most "open" to new energy.

In order not to spoil the quartz crystal, you should know what absolutely cannot be done:

1. Quartz is very negative about sudden changes in temperature, so the water should be warm, but in no case hot.
2. Do not use abrasive detergents consisting of fine solid particles. Despite the relative hardness of the stone, such an interaction can greatly harm it.
3. Even if you manage to clean the stone at home, still do not forget that it needs to be shown to the jeweler from time to time. Ideally, once every two years.
