In some cases, the stone is treated with acid, dyed, and then impregnated with a polymer to make it difficult to detect.

identification

It is almost impossible for an ordinary person to distinguish a natural stone from a processed one. Experienced jade grinders may notice a difference due to the slight change in weight, as the processed jade is impregnated with a polymer resin that is lighter in weight than its original form.

However, the tactile test is not 100% guaranteed and for jade jewelry it is often safer to have it certified by a gem lab. Certification is divided into three categories: type A, type B and type C.

Jade type A. Jade.

Type A is natural and has a true color. Without artificial treatment.

Look for black, yellow, or brown inclusions. These may be large patches of black inclusions seen in flower green varieties, or small, dark gray or yellowish dot-sized inclusions near carving outlines. Sometimes these small inclusions can be hidden near the positions of the teeth in the rings.

Jade Type B Jade

Type B first appeared in 1980, known as bleached jade. Treated to remove yellow, brown or black stains. Filled with polymer to increase transparency.

Weak varieties of jade, such as snow moss, flower green, and extreme pea green, show original features that are visible to the naked eye even after bleaching. For example, black spots of inclusions in flower green jade are not completely removed, but lightened and appear washed out to the naked eye.

And finally jade type C

Type C has been chemically bleached and then dyed to enhance the color. Paint fades over time as a result of reaction with strong light, body heat, or household detergent.

You may notice that the color of jade tends to be a clumsy bluish green. Another distinguishing feature is the tiny patches of green that are visible to the naked eye. Similar to dipping one side of a donut into green icing, a jade bracelet is dipped into a dye solution, creating the effect of dipping a donut.
