Pearl beads are a classic of jewelry that has been insanely popular for the past few centuries. Even the royals prefer this particular stone, as it is considered a symbol of sophistication, femininity and purity.

Beads, collected from natural sea pearls from the bottom of the seas and oceans, are considered a universal decoration. They have different designs, lengths, stone sizes, but all of them, of course, are the embodiment of style and elegance.

Sea pearls: varieties and features

This kind of pearl is formed in mollusk shells in natural conditions, that is, in the waters of the seas and oceans. As a rule, such stones are considered the most valuable, since they are characterized by a smoother and even surface, as well as large sizes, compared to other varieties, for example, river or cultivated.

Pearls from the South Seas are considered the most prestigious and expensive, but due to the fact that mother-of-pearl mining has turned into a cruel extermination of mollusks, which threatens an environmental disaster, “wild” pearls are practically not mined. In most cases, cultured stones, that is, formations extracted from oyster shells, which were grown on special pearl farms, fall on the shelves of jewelry stores.

It is completely wrong to say that such pearls are fake or imitation, because the process of stone formation is absolutely identical to that which occurs at the depth of the sea or ocean. The only difference is that a person takes little part in the creation of cultured pearls. It is he who places a foreign body in the mantle of the shell, which the mollusk perceives as a danger, therefore he places it in a separate bag and isolates it with layers produced by a layer of mother-of-pearl. Under natural conditions, such a foreign body enters the shell on its own, without the help of people.

The varieties of sea pearls include:

1. Pearls of the South Seas. Grown along the Pacific and Indian Oceans. The advantages of this species are a delicate, soft shade and a size that sometimes reaches two centimeters. 
2. Pearls from Kyushu or Honshu or Akoya. These are very small stones - up to 8 mm, which have a predominantly light green tint with an overflow of gold or silver. Especially rare stones from these waters are blue and pink. 
3. Tahitian. Its "homeland" is the South Pacific coast. These are the most expensive and valuable pearls, which are painted black with different tints: blue, gray, green, silver, orange, purple.

Of course, there are cases when sea pearls can be found in natural conditions, but this is such a rare and almost impossible phenomenon that such stones never hit the shelves of salons, but are sold at auctions for fabulous sums.

Once the pearl reaches its “maturity”, it is removed from the shell and sent to jewelers to create stunning jewelry, one of which is beads.

By type, beads differ in several types, and how to wear them correctly depends on this.

Model "Princess"

The length of the product is from 40 to 50 cm. It descends very smoothly to the neckline, so it looks very gentle and sophisticated. The advantages of such a pearl thread include its ability to visually lengthen the neck. However, if the "Princess" consists of too small pearl beads, then stylists recommend supplementing them with a small pendant or pendant made of precious metal.

Model "Matine"

Length - from 50 to 60 cm. They look most harmonious with an evening midi or maxi dress. But also recommended for a cocktail look. Many prefer to wear this model under a formal suit. This allows you to soften the image a little and give the business style softness and femininity.

Model "Opera" or "Rope"

Length - more than 70 and 90 cm, respectively. Usually such products are not worn in one length, wrapping them around the neck in several layers and thus getting multi-row beads. Such jewelry can be worn in various variations, for example, by tying a knot or a small neat loop at the very top or in the middle of the product. But to create a unique look, some women of fashion lower them from the back if the dress involves an open deep cutout at the back.

Model "Kollar"

Length - no more than 30 cm. Such beads fit snugly around the neck, creating a kind of high collar. They do not fall on the chest at all, but look more like a choker. However, stylists recommend wearing such models for women with a long and thin neck, as they visually shorten it a little. Such beads with sea pearls look very impressive with a deep neckline or under a collar.
