Jumis

Jumis

Latvian god Jumis, he is an agricultural deity, personifying fertility and good harvest. He is dressed in clothing made from field crops such as wheat and barley.

The Jumis symbol has a symmetrical shape, there are two crossed ears. These ears are two faces of a god, similar to the Roman god Janus. In some forms, the lower ends are folded over. "Double fruits" that occur naturally or in culture, such as two cherries or two ears on one stem, are considered to be representatives of the god Jumis. If there are terry fruits or grains, leave them. The symbol is used as a decorative element and brings good luck to the wearer. The Jumis symbol is one of the signs of prosperity and happiness - it can often be found on clothes and decorative painting. Jewelry with the Yumis symbol is a traditional folk art of Latvia and Lithuania.
