Horseshoe

Horseshoe as you know, it is used for shoeing horses - to protect the hooves from excessive abrasion.

It is difficult to establish where the meaning of this horseshoe symbol came from, but it probably came to other countries from the northern countries.

In the old days, horseshoes were most often made of iron (now they are made from other materials - most often steel), which for many had special magical properties - it had the ability to reflect evil forces. The shape of this object - a crescent moon - also had special protective properties. The Celts believed that the evil forces were afraid of iron and the crescent.

A horseshoe hanging above the entrance to the house (most often above the front door) was supposed to provide residents with happiness, health and protection. To this day, despite the fact that there are more and more people who believe in superstition, in some of them you can see hanging horseshoes.
