Šipe Totek

The former god of the central plateau adopted by the Aztecs, Sipe Totec, "our lord overlord," is the god of fertility. With spring approaching, during the month of Tlacaxipehualiztli, great human sacrifices were organized, as well as battles between elite soldiers, to replicate the original gesture of Thorn Toteka, who offered his blood for the rebirth of nature. The victims were sacrificed and then the skin was removed. The priests and soldiers marched in their own skin for several days. Like fertile rain, the blood of the sacrificed contributed to the rebirth of nature. Sipe Totek is also the god of jewelers.
