Demeter

In Greek mythology, Demeter is the daughter of the deities Kronos and Rhea, sister and wife Zeus (the father of the gods), as well as the goddess of agriculture.

Demeter about whom Homer rarely mentions, does not belong to the pantheon of the gods of Olympus, but the sources of the legends surrounding him are probably ancient. This story is based on historyhis daughter Persephone, kidnapped Aidom , god of the underworld. Demeter goes in search of Persephone and, during her journey, reveals to people in Elevsine , who greeted him with hospitality, his secret rites, which from ancient times were called the Eleusinian Mysteries. His concern about his daughter's disappearance would have distracted his attention from the crops and caused starvation. In addition to Zeus, Demeter has a Cretan lover Jason, from whom she has a son, Plutos (whose name means "wealth", that is, the fertile fruit of the earth).
