Imp - Egyptian God
Bes is an Egyptian god, represented as a bearded dwarf, full face, shaggy, grimacing, covered with feathers and often dressed in the skin of a lion.
The origin of this god remains unclear. She might be a foreigner (Nubia?).
It excludes malignant influences, reptiles, evil creatures, nightmares. It protects pregnant women and women in labor.
In the later period (1085-333 BC) many small sanctuaries were dedicated to him. In mammisi or birth temples, he observes the divine birth. In the form of Bes Panthée, it takes on a compound aspect and multiplies the divine functions.
