Eye of Horus

Eye of Horus - one of the most important symbols of Ancient Egypt. Designed to resemble the eye of a falcon, often referred to alternately as the Eye of Horus and the Eye of Ra. This symbol represents the right eye of the Egyptian god Horus - the right eye means the sun (it was associated with the sun of the god Ra), and the left eye was the moon (it was associated with the god Tehuti - Totem). Collectively, the eyes represent the totality of the universe, a concept similar to the Taoist Yin-Yang symbol.

According to legend, the evil Seth tore out his left eye.

It was believed that Eye of Horus possesses extraordinary abilities, especially in healing and protection. This symbol has often been used as a protective amulet or as a measuring instrument in medicine. The ancient Egyptians used the mathematical aspect of the eye, among other things, to calculate the amount of ingredients in medicines.
