There are various myths about the origin of the Eye of Ra symbol. However, most experts believe that this symbol was in fact the right eye of Horus and in ancient times became known as the Eye of Ra. The two symbols basically represent the same concepts. However, according to various myths, the Eye of Ra symbol has been identified as the personification of many goddesses in Egyptian mythology, such as Wadget, Hathor, Mut, Sekhmet and Bastet.

Ra or also known as Re is the sun god in Egyptian mythology. Therefore, the Eye of Ra symbolizes the sun.
