In ancient African myths, frogs are often honored as deities; usually they were closely associated with the resurrection of the dead. Many African tribes attributed a special mystical power to frogs, since these reptiles were able to hide for months deep in the ground during a drought, waiting for rains. Found even such frogs and toads that lived, hiding in stones, stay alive a little. In this regard, frogs have also been credited with the ability to make rain. Since these reptiles are able to enter and leave the underworld unharmed, they were also credited with a connection with the god of the dead.
