I tried a homemade leg hair removal mask - here's how it went

In the list of beauty tasks that I regularly perform at home, I shave my legs weighs in as one of my least favorites. When it comes to spending a little more time on my deep conditioner hair, upside down for 20 minutes to use sheet mask or even find time to apply and dry self-tanners, I'm more than ready, but shaving is always hard. Thanks to Nair, I was given a new hybrid product, the Nair Foot Mask, which is part hair remover, part skin care product, and I quickly jumped at the opportunity to try it out.

Nair offers two foot masks: Nair Leg Mask Brighten + Smooth with Charcoal and Nair Leg Mask Exfoliate + Smooth with Seaweed. Both boast 100% natural clay, as well as matching seaweed and charcoal supplements. Nair sent me the masks to try for a potential review and I was equally intrigued by both but on a whim decided to try the charcoal foot mask.

How I used it

I settled into my bathroom and started applying the mask as directed on dry skin, leaving a thick layer of product to work wonders. The package says leave it for five to ten minutes, but this was not my first Nair rodeo; I knew my hair would take the maximum amount of time. I turned on the music, grabbed my phone and continued scrolling through Instagram until the end. Based on other hair removal products I've tried, I was worried that within ten minutes I would feel a burning sensation and tingle, but was pleasantly surprised that I didn't experience either. When the time was up, I did as instructed (according to the packaging) and wiped the product off with a damp cloth. Upon closer inspection (for example, I sat in the shower checking my legs to see how it worked), I noticed that my stubble was gone and my legs actually looked brighter. They were smooth to the touch and amazingly hydrated even though I opted for a detox formula.

Final thoughts

Foot masks are a thing and I am completely here for them. If I can share a little insider tip, I recommend showering or at least rinsing off when you're done with the mask to make sure you've removed all of the product. It can be a bit cumbersome to do this with just a washcloth. In any case, this is a great option for easy hair removal at home - what more could you ask for?
