Editor's Choice: Garnier Micellar Water Review

It's no secret that micellar water conquered the world of beautySeen as a multifunctional alternative to traditional cleansers and makeup removers. Popular with beauty editors and skincare enthusiasts alike, variations on the longtime French beauty product can be found at some of today's biggest beauty brands. So, it's no surprise that Garnier has unveiled two of its own swoon-worthy blends, Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Makeup Remover & Cleanser. and Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 for waterproof make-up remover and cleanser for those who like to try (because two is always better than one). Isn't that a surprise too? Both formulas deserve everyone's attention, providing a powerful yet gentle treatment to cleanse the skin and get rid of make-up, dirt and impurities.

How Micellar Technology Works

Before we get into the review of Garnier micellar waters, it's worth explaining why they are so effective. Outwardly, most micellar water formulas seem rather modest. Frankly, they look like nothing more than plain old water. But don't be fooled. Micellar water uses micellar technology - small round cleansing molecules suspended in water that work together to attract and gently remove dirt, excess oil, makeup and other impurities from the surface of the skin. So gentle that the formulas can even be used to remove eye makeup! Think of it as strength in numbers. Because the cleansing molecules in micellar water are united against a common enemy (ahem, dirt and makeup!), the formula is extremely effective on contact and doesn't require additional water or rinses and certainly doesn't require rubbing in hard. It's also what makes micellar water different from traditional cleansers - and what made us so excited to consider Garnier micellar water - as the cleansing molecules in traditional cleansers work alone to dissolve dirt and often require a water rinse to fully cleanse the skin.

Benefits of Garnier Micellar Water

As mentioned earlier, one of the most impressive benefits of Garnier micellar water is that it doesn't need to be rinsed off. This makes it ideal for use on the road and in places where a sink is not available, whether in the car or while hiking. We understand that laziness can happen to the best of us. Sometimes it's hard to muster the strength to get out of bed and head to the bathroom sink to clean up. That's what makes micellar water so great. All it takes is a quick swipe of the cotton pad, which can be done even while lying on the mattress! Because it's so easy to use - more on that later - anywhere, anytime, there's practically no excuse to skip cleansing, one of the most important steps in any skincare routine. Another amazing (and lazy-girl-approved!) benefit of Garnier micellar water is that it performs a triple function: it removes make-up, cleanses the skin of dirt and excess sebum, and refreshes the skin with gentle micelles that won't leave your skin dry. or irritation from harsh friction.

How to use Garnier micellar water

Like most micellar cleansers, Garnier micellar water is packaged in a clear plastic bottle with a convenient dispenser for dispensing the liquid formula onto a cotton pad. First, moisten a cotton swab or pad with water and sweep it over all areas of the face with gentle circular motions. If you put on a lot of makeup that day, you may want to repeat the procedure one or two more times. You will immediately notice how the makeup slides off your face onto the pillow. For eye makeup, follow the same steps, but hold a moistened cotton swab or pad over the eye area for a few minutes before sweeping. Be extra careful with your movements to make sure you don't rub your skin. Once all traces of makeup and dirt have been removed, continue with the rest of your skin care routine. (No rinsing, remember?) Some people like to apply toner, while others prefer to apply moisturizer right away. Either way, your skin will feel very fresh and clean.

Who Should Use Garnier Micellar Water

Garnier Micellar Water is so gentle that it can be used on all skin types, even sensitive ones! The formula is oil, alcohol and fragrance free, making it an excellent non-irritating cleanser for all skin types.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water All-Purpose Makeup Remover & Cleanser Review

The main difference between the two Garnier micellar water formulas is that one is designed to remove even waterproof mascara in addition to regular makeup, while the other is best suited for regular, not very long-lasting makeup. The first Garnier micellar water I reviewed is the last one. I wear makeup throughout the day, so I was eager to see how well the formula would do in removing makeup from my face before bed. On first use, I noticed how non-greasy the formula feels on my skin. It quickly soaked into a cotton pad and glided across my skin without any issues and left no residue. Almost immediately, I saw the makeup disappear from my face and eyes on a cotton pad. (Note: This is one of the most enjoyable parts of using micellar water cleansers in my opinion.) It's all gone and my skin doesn't feel dry or tight. In fact, everything was just the opposite. My skin was fresh and, most importantly, very, very clean. I even ran it over my lips to wash off my lipstick and it worked like magic. I give Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Makeup Remover & Cleanser two thumbs up. Now to the next...

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Review

This formula differs from the previous one in that it can help get rid of waterproof mascara. So, to test it out, before reviewing this Garnier micellar water, I applied my favorite waterproof mascara to my eyes. True to its claims, the formula gently cleansed my skin of all traces of makeup, including waterproof mascara, without any harsh rubbing or tugging on skin or lashes. Speaking of lashes, mine were super hydrated too, which was an unexpected bonus. One bottle offers 13.5 oz. liquid, so I think that this will last me quite a while, especially since a cotton pad requires very little liquid. And at less than $10 a bottle each, I see both formulas as permanent fixtures in my arsenal for years to come.
