Editor's Choice: The Lip Balm You Need for Chapped Lips

With winter on its way—and its chilly temperatures—many of us are dealing with seasonal dryness and chapped lips...myself included. Chapped lips are basically a year-round battle for me, so I was thrilled when Maybelline sent us free samples of their iconic Baby Lips lip balm for review. And at under $5 each, this is one beauty product that I was totally willing to buy again (and again and again) once our free Skincare.com products were used up. Does Baby Lips really make your lips look smoother and softer? Check out our Baby Lips review below!

What Causes Chapped Lips?

Before we can move on to our Baby Lips review, it is necessary to know what causes chapped lips in the first place. The point is, you can't avoid something if you don't know the reasons why it might happen. Below we list the four most common causes of chapped lips:

  • Climate: During the winter months, the level of humidity—read: humidity—in the air can drop dramatically. This is the main cause of dry skin, and lips are no exception. Add gusty wind to the lack of moisture in the air, and you have a recipe for chapped lips.
  • Artificial heating: Winter is coming again thanks to low indoor humidity caused by artificial heating.
  • UV rays: Unprotected sun exposure can dehydrate your skin, including the skin on your lips, so it's important to protect delicate lips with a broad-spectrum SPF.
  • Lack of hydration: Just like your skin from head to toe, the skin on your lips needs hydration and hydration to stay smooth and chapped free. It is important to have an effective lip balm on hand and use it often!

Benefits of baby lips

Since the main cause of chapped lips is a lack of moisture, it's important to make lip balm a part of your daily routine. And what could be better than a lip balm with SPF 20? For this reason, my first Baby Lips review was an unscented and colorless version of everyone's favorite lip balm. Formulated with a blend of moisturizing ingredients including shea butter, Baby Lips Quenched hydrates lips and protects them from drying out and UV damage.

Who Should Try Baby Lips?

Every! Lip balm with SPF is indispensable in any cosmetic arsenal. Not only do you help moisturize your lips, but you also protect them from UV rays. The first step in moisturizing chapped lips is to apply lip balm and reapply as needed, and Baby Lips is one of our favorite options for this job.

Overview of baby lips

What I love most about Maybelline Baby Lips is the silky smooth texture of this lip balm. Unlike other lip care products I have reviewed, Baby Lips is neither hard nor hard and does not leave a waxy finish on the lips after use. On the contrary, Baby Lips glides over my parched lip like no other. It doesn't leave a sticky residue and can be worn alone or under some of my favorite lip colors. What's more, with SPF protection, it's a must-have when I'm out and about - whether it's a quick winter walk or a seaside break on a beach holiday. While I don't often forget to reapply lip balm throughout the day—I openly admit that it's my carelessness that causes my lips to become dry and chapped every winter—since I genuinely love Baby Lips, I definitely remember to use it. . My lips look and feel softer and more supple than ever and I think I can thank Baby Lips.

If you prefer a bit of color with lip balm, we've also reviewed a few other products from the Baby Lips collection, but we recommend always starting with Quenched due to its SPF protection.

  • Balm for the shine of children's lips: Glow Balm is one of the newest additions to the Baby Lips collection. It has been designed to respond to your own lip chemistry and give your lips a personalized and pleasing rosy glow. If you usually prefer a lip gloss or stick but with the benefits of a balm, this is definitely a product that should be on your radar!
  • Moisturizing lip gloss Baby Lips: If you prefer shine, we definitely recommend this non-sticky formula. Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Gloss is available in 12 super-rich shades - Fab and Fuchsia are my favorites all year round. Baby Lips Hydrating Lip Gloss has been highly rated by the Skincare.com team. The lips are soft and hydrated, the texture is creamy with a megawatt of shine, and the colors complement each other incredibly.
  • Moisturizing balm Baby Lips Crystal: For ladies who love a slight shimmer, take a look at Crystal Kiss. Lips will not only be moisturized, but also covered with a slight shimmer, which will make them attractive for kissing.
