Heat wave: how to prevent oily sheen this summer

The heat, mixed with all the fun summer activities we love to indulge in, like rooftop bars and pool days, can take our skin from glowing to oily in minutes. One way to take care of the inevitable shine is to prepare yourself for what's to come by incorporating these four tips below into your skin care routine to help keep oily skin from ruining your summer.

Buy blotting paper

If you have oily skin all year round, you may already be familiar with blotting paper. But, if you tend to experience oilier skin in the summer, now is the perfect time to invest in some of these. On a hot summer night, they can be your best friend and savior. Touch up your glow by applying one of these bad guys to the affected areas of your face. Depending on how oily your skin is, you may be able to use more than one sheet to get the job done.    

Switch to a lighter night cream.

Another way to reduce the appearance of oily skin is to rethink your nighttime routine. Your night cream may be the culprit, as it tends to be heavier. Switching to a lighter night cream or lotion can let your skin breathe.

Wear less makeup

Speaking of breath, it is also recommended to wear less makeup during the warm season.
