SkinCrush: Meet Glossarray's Mai Morgan and Daxia Godoy and learn their skin care secrets

#SkinCrush delves into the routine of people who love skincare (almost) as much as we do.

As with many successful projects, THE GLOSSARRAY founders May Morgan and Daxia Godoy began their collaboration through Instagram DMs. Even though Mai was the first to get into Dax's private messages, they quickly realized their shared passion for skincare and content creation, and thus GLOSSARREY was born. Both a blog and an Instagram account, THE GLOSSARRAY features in-depth product reviews, drool-worthy shelves, and peeks into Mai and Dax' favorites. Since its inception, they have amassed over 28k followers and created enough content to keep us scrolling for days on end. We recently got in touch with this dynamic duo and they went into detail about their skincare routines, talked about their favorite Instagram accounts, and revealed the most frequently asked question in their private messages (spoiler: it's not about skin). care!).

First and last name: Daxia Godoy

what are you doing: I'm a full-time college student in New York, and in my free time I'm working on THE GLOSSARRAY.

Skin type: Basically I have combination skin, but it varies depending on the season. Oily in summer and combination/dehydrated in winter.

What made you two start GLOSSARRAY?

I ran my own beauty blog for a bit on my personal Instagram account and noticed that Mai started her own beauty account. At that moment we were not close, but I could see that she had a passion for creativity, just like me. I contacted Mai via direct on Instagram and casually asked her if she would like to blog together. I felt like we could create something stronger if we did it together because we both have a passion and drive for beauty and content creation.

Right now, I wash my face in the morning with Bioderma Sensibio Gel Moussant, which I consider my “safe” cleanser that I can always go back to because I know it works great for me. I then use the Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 that I just introduced to my skin so I will use it every other day until my skin adjusts to using it. I use the Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum, which I love because it also contains hyaluronic acid. And finally, I will use an SPF moisturizer like Erno Laszlo Firmarine Moisturizer SPF 30.

At night, I will use Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water as the first cleanser and the gel mousse as the second to get rid of everything left over from the day. If it's my day off after using Lotion P50, I'll use Bioderma Hydrabio Tonique followed by Peach & Lily Glass Skin Serum and Embryolisse Hydra-Masque as a moisturizer. Now I'm on the hunt for a good night moisturizer!

What would you like to know about skin care first?

I wish my younger self didn't panic and rush to every acne product when my acne breaks out. It's so easy to do, especially if you're not seeing results.

What are your favorite accounts to follow on 'gram?

I love everything @christina.kassi creates. I'm her big fan and she's so cute too. And @35mmbeauty takes the most amazing photos! I can't get enough of them.

What's the last skin care product you finished and would buy again?

I believe the last product I finished was the Omorovicza Deep Cleansing Mask, which worked so well for my congested skin. I travel quite often, which makes my skin congested. I would buy again, but the price bites me. If I went broke, this would definitely be the product I would get.

The skincare ingredient you can't get enough of?

Vitamin C! It has worked wonders to fade and lighten years of acne scars.

What is the most frequently asked question in your private messages?

We receive a lot of questions related to the product, with recommendations for various skin concerns. As well as questions about where to buy props or items for storage in our posts.

What do you like most about skin care?

There is so much to learn about skin care! I really enjoy spending time reading about different ingredients. I'm trying to learn more about ingredients so I can find products that work for me and it's easy to turn down products that have ingredients that my skin doesn't like. I think it's important for anyone trying to create a skin care routine to know the basics about ingredients in products and what they do.

what are you doing: I'm a full-time student like Dax and I work on THE GLOSSARRAY in my spare time.

Skin type: Normal/dry and sensitive.

When Dax contacted you on Instagram about creating THE GLOSSARRAY, what did you think?

I started my own Instagram account about six months before she approached me and asked if I would like to collaborate on our own project. I knew about her, but I had never spoken to her before. I could say that she had a talent for photography and creativity in general. For me, it was a no-brainer! She taught me so much. I am very grateful to her and I love the dynamics that we both bring to the game.

I recently found out that my skin responds best to minimalist skincare, so I try to stick with it most of the time. I love waking up in the morning with some gentle foaming cleanser like Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Foaming Cleanse or micellar water (my all-time favorite is Bioderma Sensibio). I usually keep this simple for my morning routine, so I just use a hyaluronic acid serum and then moisturize with something light. I'll take care of that with SPF if my moisturizer doesn't already contain it. i really enjoy Supergoop SPF Products. The weather here in New Orleans is so changeable that it's hard for me to stay on my toes. My skin tends to be drier, so hydration is always important to me.

I'll go deeper in the evenings. I'll use the same two cleansers from my morning routine, and then if I'm masking at night, I'll usually use an exfoliating wash-off peel or mask, like the Australian Sand+Sky Pink Clay Mask or Erno Laszlo's White Mask. Marbled XNUMX-Phase Vitamin C Peel. If I'm not camouflaging, I use Caudalie Vinoperfect Glycolic Brightening Essence, apply Niacinamide Serum, then apply Farmacy Beauty Honeymoon Glow (one of my favorites) and then moisturize. I love the Youth To The People Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream.

What would you like to know about skin care first?

Not to exfoliate your skin! I grew up with dry/dehydrated skin and it used to be very frustrating for me, so my first thought was to exfoliate as much as possible, which was definitely the wrong answer, especially for someone with very sensitive skin like me. Also, I would like to know to pay attention to the ingredients in the products. It would be helpful for me to know exactly what my skin is so sensitive to in order to avoid these things.

What are your favorite accounts to follow on 'gram?

I love @christina.kassi as well as @amyserrano and @thecriticalbabe!

What's the last skin care product you finished and would buy again?

I actually had Farmacy Beauty Honeymoon Glow and I will definitely buy it again! This product has been a game changer for my skin.

The skincare ingredient you can't get enough of?

Niacinamide! My skin loves it and it definitely helps with redness and inflammation.

What is the most frequently asked question in your private messages?

People always want to know where we get certain things we use in our photos, like organizational items or even the jewelry we wear!

What do you like most about skin care?

What I like most about him is taking care of himself. I think it's very important to pamper yourself and give back. It's also interesting to know what your skin likes and dislikes. It makes me feel like a home scientist.
