Diffuse and soothe: why you need thermal water for daily skin care

Think of thermal water as a tonic, as it covers much of the same area—read: moisturizes, refreshes, and adds a layer of protection against environmental aggressors. But that's not all, the thermal waters can also be used to set make-up, soothe and enhance the natural radiance of the skin. So it's no surprise that thermal water sprays have been a craze in France for years. Needless to say, we will never miss the opportunity to take a page from a book about the beauty of a French girl. But you don't need an international plane ticket to get your hands on one of these powerful products! Believe it or not, there are plenty of options available right here in the US and we'll share some of our favorites.

OUR 2 FAVORITE THERMAL WATER SPRAYERS

Have you been sold? Good, because thermal waters are a great way to improve the look of your skin and boost your hydration levels with minimal effort. Fortunately - or unfortunately, depending on your wanderlust - you don't have to travel to France to get your hands on this super-fancy water. Check out two of our all-time favorite thermal waters from the L'Oreal portfolio of brands that have arrived in the US below and find out for yourself how they are so much better than regular tap water.

THERMAL WATER OF VICHY

Vichy mineralizing thermal water is so good that it is included in the recipe of every product. Soothing and rich in antioxidants, this mineral-rich water helps firm skin and protect against signs of environmental aging. It comes from French volcanoes, where it flowed through millennia-old rocks. It may seem unassuming, but this lightweight mist contains 15 minerals and antioxidants to enhance skin's radiance and healthy-looking complexion. Not to mention, it's incredibly refreshing. We love that it's small enough to be carried anywhere without a problem. Cheer up at noon has never been so easy!

THERMAL WATER LA ROCHE-POSAY

You will find thermal spring water in many La Roche-Posay products thanks to its unique combination of mineral salts and trace elements with soothing properties. The formula contains a high concentration of selenium - a powerful natural antioxidant - and mineral-rich microdroplets that instantly soothe and hydrate the skin. It can be used on all skin types, ideally in place of toner. And don't worry about spraying too much; it can be used as often as you want - at home, in the office or on the go. This is definitely a product worth keeping on hand.

How to use thermal water

As we mentioned, thermal water can be used in many different ways, so feel free to get creative! One of the best things about thermal water is that it is light and gentle and can be used in both skincare and makeup. If you need a little creative guidance, keep reading! Below we will talk about four ways to use thermal water.

Thermal water tonic

No toner? No problem. After cleansing the skin, use thermal water to tone the skin in the morning and evening and prepare it for the application of serums or creams.

Moisturizing hold spray

Chances are you've heard a thing or two about setting makeup with a setting spray, but have you ever set moisturizer? Using a facial spray after applying moisturizer can help boost hydration. The next time you wash your face, use thermal water after moisturizing for an extra refreshing effect.

Update in the middle of the day

Whether you've spent the entire day studying or working, we all need a little refreshment after lunch. Instead of pouring a cup of coffee at noon, try using a thermal water spray to refresh, soothe and awaken your complexion. For a cooling effect, store the thermal water in the refrigerator before using it.

Makeup spray

Give your skin a little love and care by replacing your regular fixing spray with thermal water spray. It can provide extra hydration and natural radiance to the skin.
