Easy care for mature skin

As you get older, you may start to notice wrinkles and fine lines on your complexion or experience drier skin texture. While it may seem like you need to start filling your skincare shelf with tons of anti-aging serums and face creams, we promise that the creation of a regimen for mature skin shouldn't be complicated. Here we will break down a simple skin care routine to get you started.

STEP 1: Wash your face with a mild moisturizing cleanser

Skin cleansing helps remove excess oil, dirt and other impurities from the surface before they clog pores. Because dry skin can exacerbate the appearance of wrinkles, make sure your cleanser doesn't strip the skin of its natural oils. One of our favorites is CeraVe Moisturizing Foaming Face Wash. It contains ceramides and hyaluronic acid that keep the skin hydrated and healthy.

STEP 2: Apply anti-aging moisturizer

Do you want to brighten your skin? Reach Kiehl's Super Multi-Corrective Cream. Anti-aging moisturizer reduces fine lines and wrinkles while evening out skin tone and texture with its hyaluronic acid and chaga formula. It can also be used to combat the signs of aging on the neck.

STEP 3: Use a dark spot corrector

Among acne scars, sun exposure, air pollution, and hormonal fluctuations, dark spots are incredibly common. To help fight hyperpigmentation, try using IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Anti-Dark Spot Serum, which minimizes the appearance of dark spots and improves skin clarity.

STEP 4: Try an anti-aging eye cream

As we age, the skin around the eyes may begin to thin and crow's feet may become more visible. For an anti-aging eye cream that hydrates and smoothes, we recommend Lancome Advanced Génifique Eye Cream. It works to improve the appearance of wrinkles, smooth out fine lines and reduce dark circles.

STEP 5: Apply Broad Spectrum SPF

Regardless of age or skin type, you are always at risk of sun damage. To protect your skin from UVA and UVB rays, it is important to apply SPF 30 or higher every day. We like La Roche-Posay Anthelios AOX Antioxidant Serum SPF. Not only does this multi-purpose product help protect your skin from future sun damage, but its antioxidant-rich formula also repairs damage already done. The sunscreen serum also has a smooth, quick-drying texture.

STEP 6: Add a face mask

Face masks are a great way to fill the skin with beneficial properties in a short time. If rejuvenation is a concern, we recommend Garnier Green Labs Hyalu-Melon Smoothing Serum Mask. Formulated with hyaluronic acid and watermelon extract, the mask intensively hydrates dry skin and evens out the complexion, leaving you looking younger and more radiant in just five minutes of use.

STEP 7: Add Retinol to Your Arsenal

If you're not already using retinol, now is the time to start. "Retinol can increase collagen production as per prescription, improve tone and even texture," says certified dermatologist and Skincare.com consultant. Dr. Another Ted. Try to use L'Oréal Paris Revitalift Pressed Night Cream with Retinol and Niacinamide if you are new to ingredient. Retinol can irritate the skin, so incorporating it into your daily routine along with your moisturizer can help your skin develop tolerance without any major side effects. (Editor's note: Retinol can cause skin sensitivity to sunlight, so only use it during the evening hours. During the daytime, wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher and take extra sun protection measures.)
