Fake it 'til it works: color grading cheat sheet

Color correcting makeup, for those unfamiliar, is a technique used to even out skin tone and mask imperfections with a set of colorful shades.

To better imagine this principle, remember your elementary school education in drawing classes. Remember color wheels? Colors that are directly opposite each other will help neutralize the other. Assuming you don't have a color wheel handy, we've put together some helpful tips for choosing a shade based on your skin concerns.

GREEN 

Green sits directly opposite red on the color wheel, which means it can help neutralize the appearance of any skin redness on the face, such as minor redness. a tan or an inflamed breakout.  

YELLOW 

For under-eye circles or bruising with a bluish tinge, apply a yellow concealer or primer to cover them up. 

ORANGE

If you have a lighter complexion, you can ditch the orange concealer and opt for the next one. Orange formulas work best on darker skin. hide dark circles and discoloration.

NET

For deeper skin tones, use red if you want to neutralize dark circles, blemishes and discoloration and brighten your complexion.
