A radiant facial massage to add to your daily skincare routine

Glowing skin ranks high on our list of skin care goals - next to achieving even skin tone и complexion without blemishes. Like any other skin care enthusiast, we choose products in the hope that with diligent use, we can happily reach our skin goals in the near future. But what we don't often think about are homemade ways to achieve said goals. Take, for example, a facial massage, another way to activate our potential for radiant skin. Combined with products designed for your skin looks brighter, the combination is definitely worth trying at home.

We contacted a Skincare.com consultant, LeAnn Leslie, Vocational Education Manager Alpha-H Skin Care, who recommends incorporating facial massage into your regular skincare routine once a week. “Results will vary depending on factors such as your skin type and concerns, but we expect both immediate radiance and longer-term results after a month of weekly facial massage,” she explains. In addition, Leslie points out that home facial massage has a number of benefits that go beyond glowing skin, including "eliminating visible signs of tension from the skin, increasing blood circulation, and helping to eliminate visible puffiness."

As for how to do a DIY facial massage, she recommends starting with a thoroughly cleansed face with a moisturizing non-foaming cleanser. We like CeraVe Moisturizing Facial Cleanser, as it is an affordable option that leaves our skin clean and hydrated. “Apply some of your favorite nutrient face oil wash your hands and gently warm between your fingertips,” she says. “Then, gently place your fingertips on your temples and take three deep breaths to begin. This sets your intention and ensures that you are relaxed and ready for a facial massage.

“Apply the oil to the skin in gentle, sweeping motions, starting at the center of the face, working outward and upward. There are no set massage motions that you must follow, except for gentle circular motions along the forehead and jawline. Repeat these movements three times around the face. Use your index finger to gently move the pressure point around the orbital bone and across the eyebrows. Repeat three times. Finally, apply a face mask or moisturizer."

And if you're wondering what products you need to pick up for your face (besides this moisturizing cleanser), Leslie recommends a specialized serum designed for your skin type. “They can be gently rubbed into the skin to facilitate penetration. Facial masks are also ideal for use after a facial massage, as blood and lymphatic circulation of the skin is stimulated, making the skin receptive to further treatments.”
