Why You Need Micellar Water in Your Routine

You've probably heard of micellar water, but you may not know exactly what it is and how it differs from other types of cleansers. Optimal skin pH balance

Before we get into what micellar water is or how to use it, it's important to understand why a no-rinse cleanser can be beneficial. Hard water - unfiltered water that is high in minerals - can actually upset the skin's optimal pH balance due to its alkaline pH. Our skin has an ideal pH balance, which is on the slightly acidic side of the pH scale, around 5.5. Hard water can cause our skin's pH balance to drop to the alkaline side, which can cause skin problems like acne, dryness, and sensitivity. 

What is micellar water?

Micellar Water is formulated with micellar technology—small, round cleansing molecules suspended in solution work together to attract, trap, and gently remove impurities. It can be used to remove everything from surface impurities to stubborn waterproof mascara, all without the need for lathering or water. 

Benefits of micellar water

In addition to the fact that micellar water is designed to be used without water, this type of cleanser is neither harsh nor drying on the skin, so it is safe for sensitive skin. It can also be used as a makeup remover and cleanser, which means you don't have to double cleansing. 

How to use micellar water

Shake the solution well before use as many formulas are biphasic and must be mixed for optimal results. Next, moisten a cotton pad with the solution. To remove eye makeup, place a cotton pad over closed eyes for a few seconds and then gently wipe to remove makeup. Continue this step all over your face until it is completely clean.
