Why We Love Vichy Minéral 89 Prebiotic Recovery & Defense Concentrate for Radiant Glow

When Vichy sent me their new Minéral 89 Prebiotic Recovery & Defense Concentrate for trial and review, I was itching to incorporate it into my skincare routine. I've heard so much about the iconic classic Minéral 89 line, but this is the first time I've tried one of the products. This serum is designed to provide "protection against the visible signs of stress" that seems sorely needed today, tomorrow and always. I tried the product on myself and spoke with Dr. Marisa Garshik, NYC Certified Dermatologist and Vichy Consultant Dermatologist, to learn more about the science behind this serum.

This concentrate is designed to restore the skin's natural water barrier. According to Dr. Garshik, a healthy moisture barrier helps skin look firmer, smoother, and more hydrated, which is what I strive for with my complexion. Some external factors that can compromise the skin's moisture barrier include irritating skin care products, environmental pollutants, low humidity, and moisture loss. Dr. Garshik explained that this serum, formulated with niacinamide, vitamin E, and volcanic water, can help the skin defend against free radicals and reduce moisture loss associated with a weakened skin barrier.

When she asked me what usually happens to my dry, sensitive skin when I'm stressed, I listed some of my typical skincare concerns: I have more breakouts, dark circles under my eyes are more visible, and my complexion is more dim. After a few weeks of using this serum, I noticed that my skin was more hydrated and radiant, even after a few restless nights. I love its cooling, milky texture and how it refreshes the skin, especially in my morning skincare routine.

This is the perfect intermediate step in skin care. After I cleanse my skin and spritz it with a facial spray, I apply a concentrate and add a hyaluronic acid serum, and then apply a moisturizer. If you use retinol, Dr. Garshik recommends applying this concentrate after. If you are looking for a product that will help repair a damaged moisture barrier, I highly recommend purchasing this.
