As a person with hereditary bags under my eyes, I have spent countless days in the morning trying to get rid of the puffiness in my puffy eyes while trying to rush to work. Puffy eyes can be linked to a range of culprits - lack of sleep, poor diet, good crying, etc. - and living in a city that never sleeps doesn't quite help my situation. From happy hour cocktails to late night parties and enjoying the best pizza in NYC, my busy lifestyle can really take a toll on the look of my eye contour, resulting in a lot of time and energy spent trying out new tricks, products, and everything else. . it can help improve the look of my overly puffy eyes. I share my tried-and-true tips on how to temporarily hide under-eye bags here:

1. ON THE ROCKS

When I wake up with noticeable bags under my eyes or puffy eyes, the first thing I do is run straight to the freezer and grab a couple of ice cubes and apply them to the affected areas. It can also be a great way to wake yourself up, as the cooling sensation from ice cubes can be a little shocking at first. Applying ice to puffy, tired eyes can reduce puffiness in a pinch.

2. COLD SPOONS

Bags under the eyes can be hereditary, and unfortunately for me, they run in my family. Luckily, my mom and grandmas have given me a few tips and tricks over the years on how to deal with this pesky trait. Their trick to eliminate unwanted puffiness around the eyes? Chilled spoons. It seems a little odd at first, but the puffiness of the eyes makes up for it. Simply put two medium-sized spoons in the refrigerator for about ten minutes and apply the back of the spoon to the under-eye area. If you're like me and regularly experience bags under your eyes, you might want to leave a couple of scoops in the fridge at all times so you don't have to wait to get rid of the puffiness.

3. FROZEN EYE PACKS

Old but good, frozen eye masks have been used for ages to temporarily reduce the appearance of puffy eyes. A cross between an ice pack and a sleep mask, frozen eye masks like The Body Shop's Aqua Eye Mask are made from a gel-like formula that can be stored in the freezer for quick relief from eye fatigue. I like to use a frozen eye mask a couple of times a week before bed and on days when my eyes are sore, tired and swollen.

4. COOL AS A CUCUMBER

The next time you make a refreshing salad or fruit water, save a few cucumber slices for your eyes! Possibly one of the oldest spa tricks in the world, putting a few slices of chilled cucumber over your eyes will help constrict blood vessels and reduce puffy eyes – which is great when you want to get some rest and relaxation too! I love keeping a plastic bag of cucumber slices in the fridge to snack on (they go great with hummus!), add to salads and other delicious recipes, and of course keep puffy eye contours under control.

5. EYE MASKS… FOR YOUR EYES

Another one of my favorite ways to get rid of bags under my eyes is sheet masks. The best part about these Korean beauty face masks is that they come in more targeted forms, also known as patches, for your lips and eyes. One of my favorite lipsticks is Lancôme's Absolue L'Extrait Ultimate Eye Patch. Formulated to smooth, hydrate and brighten the eye contour, this luxurious eye mask helps reduce the appearance of under eye skin.

5. Say NO to SALT

It's no secret that too much salt can make your skin look bloated and puffy, and unfortunately for salty eaters everywhere (hello!), salt doesn't make a difference in certain areas of the body. I have noticed that when I reduce my intake of salty foods, my chronic bags under my eyes become much easier to hide. It may not be for everyone, but if you're like me and notice that your under eye bags become more pronounced after eating salty foods, you might want to try staying away from high-sodium foods, especially before an important event when you want to prevent the appearance of bags under the eyes.

6. APPLY MOISTURIZER

Eye creams and serums are your best friends. They might not be what you're looking for in a pinch, but incorporating an eye cream or serum into your daily skincare routine can help get rid of under-eye bags over time, and can also make the skin around your eyes feel tender. with abundant moisture. As a beauty editor for Skincare.com, I've had the pleasure of trying free eye care products from L'Oréal's portfolio of brands, testing and reviewing creams, serums and balms on my own eye bags. While there are quite a few products that I like and see results with, my favorite eye care product is The Body Shop Drops of Youth Concentrate Eye Cream. Packed with a roll-on, it helps reduce the appearance of under-eye bags over time with consistent use. Store it in the refrigerator to refresh puffy eyes.

Speaking of keeping food in the fridge, I have an entire section of my fridge—okay, it's just a butter drawer—dedicated to my eye cream collection. I love the cooling—read: soothing—effect of chilled eye cream on my skin (especially when my eyes look tired), and I've noticed that the coolness of chilled eye cream is like a cold spoon, cucumber, or ice. may help temporarily reduce the appearance of swollen skin. Here are some of the moisturizers and eye serums that I use all the time:

Kiehl's Avocado Eye Cream: This avocado oil formula gently hydrates the skin around the eyes, this ultra-creamy eye cream from Kiehl's is a fan favorite. In addition to its moisturizing properties, this avocado eye cream does not migrate into the eyes and is suitable for all skin types.

Lancôme Visionnaire Yeux Advanced Multi-corrective Eye Balm: Another of my favorite eye care products is Lancôme's Visionnaire Yeux Advanced Multi-Correcting Eye Balm. 8. COLOR CORRECTION

Looking for a short-term way to hide dark bags under your eyes? Don't worry, I'll cover you. When it comes to hiding my noticeable puffy eyes, I always use color correcting concealer to help mask their appearance and make them look more peppy (which is hard to do when you're running on zero sleep). To use the concealer to correct your eye color, simply apply the concealer in the same way as a normal concealer - in the shape of an inverted triangle - and blend with a cosmetic sponge or concealer brush. Then apply a layer of nude concealer, blend it out and you're done. Here are some of my favorite color-correcting concealers that can be used to cover up under-eye bags:

Urban Decay Naked Color Correction Fluid: When it comes to liquid color correctors, Urban Decay's Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid is one of my absolute must-haves. I love how easy it is to apply with a stick applicator and how it spreads evenly onto the skin with a damp blending sponge. To use liquid color-correcting concealer in your makeup bag, simply use the applicator to draw the shape of an inverted triangle and blend it with a damp blending sponge. Then apply nude concealer, blend, and you're done!

9. HIGHLIGHTER

Another beauty product that I and my bags under my eyes can't live without? Highlighter. That's right folks... highlighter is not only meant to visually define your cheekbones and help create a more radiant look, but also to cover up visible dark circles and bags under your eyes. Whether I'm wearing makeup or not, I never leave the house without putting some highlighter on the corners of my eyes. And when I'm feeling super trendy, I apply liquid highlighter, liquid concealer, and eye cream to the area and blend it all together for a more dramatic effect. 10. EYELINER

Another easy way to hide puffy eyes in a pinch? Eyeliner! I usually don't use eyeliner out of laziness... but when I do, it's almost always to hide visibly puffy, puffy eyes. Before I go over how to help hide puffy eyes with eyeliner, I want to clarify that this trick works best if your eyelids also appear to be puffy, as eyeliner can detract from that. To help cover up the look of puffy eyes with eyeliner, you can either create a complete winged look—here we share a tutorial on how to get the perfect winged eyeliner—or you can draw a small line over the eyes. outer lash line and blend it with an eyeshadow brush (or your finger if you're super lazy like me). Don't have eyeliner? No problem! Use a thin makeup brush to apply brown or charcoal eyeshadow to the area and blend.
