We tried color grading on our nails and this is what we thought

If I had to choose between makeup and nail polish, I would choose nail polish every time—seriously, I feel naked without it. That being said, I've always wanted to try a nude manicure, but I'm too embarrassed by my yellow nails. That was until essie Polish sent me a free sample of Color Corrector For Nails Primer for testing and review on behalf of our Skincare.com readers. Curious to know how it turned out? Keep reading!

Like a base coat, this color-correcting nail primer can be used before a negative space style manicure or alone for a more nude look. At first glance, that is, before I tested the swatch on my thumbnail, the formula looked like it was a creamy but translucent ivory shade with a slight shimmer. But when I did a quick one nail test before my manicure, I noticed that the formula is actually quite sheer, making it perfect for a bare manicure. What else? My nail is less yellow too! This is because these shimmer pieces are actually very small color correcting pearls that can reflect light and give your nails a healthy look.

Feeling confident in the power of color correction and thrilled to take a break from yellowing nails, I gave myself a home manicure with Color Corrector For Nails primer. Result? Smooth nails with a healthy glow that neutralizes yellowing or discoloration.

The best thing about Color Corrector For Nails (other than the fact that it can neutralize the look of yellow nails)? You don't need to make an appointment at a fashion salon to get great nails! Learn how to correct your nail color with our DIY Color Corrected Manicure Guide.

WHAT YOU NEED:

● essie Polish Apricot Cuticle Oil

● Orange tree stick.

● Small bowl

● Nail file

● essie Nail color corrector

● Top coat essie Polish Good To Go (optional)

What are you going to do:

  1. Before you start your home manicure, make sure you remove all traces of nail polish with nail polish remover and a cotton swab.
  2. Once you've removed the polish, it's time to file it into shape with a nail file. If your nails are already the right shape and length, you can skip this step.
  3. Then soak your nails in warm soapy water for a few minutes. Warm water can help soften and cleanse nails and cuticles, and make them easier to remove with an orange stick.
  4. When you're done soaking, take an orangewood stick and gently push the cuticle back towards the root of the nail.
  5. Then take essie Polish Color Corrector For Nails and apply 1-2 coats on each nail.
  6. If you want to add shine to your manicure, try topping it off. We recommend essie Polish Good To Go Top Coat. PRO TIP: To keep your cuticles soft, apply some essie apricot cuticle oil on your cuticles to keep them from drying out.
