The lip oils you need to keep your lips hydrated all winter long

Imagine: the year is 1967, and a positive, all-consuming feeling of love is washing America in a wave. When liberation and a new awakening brought more than 75,000 young people to the streets of San Francisco, an explosion of glamour, peace and harmony swept the city. Inspired by that single moment in America, we created the new Kiehl's Love Oil For Lips. After receiving free samples from our friends at Kiehl's, we tried Love Oil For Lips. What is Kiehl's Love Oil for Lips?

This moisturizing lip formula is designed to nourish and soften your delicate lips, leaving a natural sheen behind. It is essentially a hybrid of lip conditioner and lip gloss that can, in addition to nourishing your lips, give a soft and subtle glow with a hint of color. Choose from four shades - Apothecary Cherry, Botanical Blush, Midnight Orchid and Neon Pink, plus an additional transparent shade aptly named Colorless.

What is Kiehl's Love Oil Lip Oil made from?

Love Oil For Lips is formulated with several ingredients including coconut oil, moringa oil and acerola cherry extract. Let's start with coconut oil. Chances are, you've heard about this ingredient not only in your kitchen cabinet, but also in your skin care products. Used in Ayurvedic medicine for over 4,000 years, the oil is rich in fatty acids and is found in Love Oil For Lips. Like coconut oil, moringa oil, a superfood known as the Tree of Life, is also rich in fatty acids and nutrients. Last but not least, acerola cherry extract is an antioxidant that is known for its natural vitamin C content.

Who can use Kiehl's Love Oil for Lips?

Love Oil For Lips is suitable for all skin types, including dry and sensitive. If you're looking to give your skin a double-shine of color and hydration, check out this lip oil.

How do you use Kiehl's Love Oil for lips?

Apply Love Oil For Lips just like you would lip gloss or lip balm. Simply squeeze a drop of the formula onto your fingertips or apply it directly to your lips. You can apply as freely as needed. Plus, there's no limit to how often you can reapply throughout the day, so keep it in your bag or purse for touch-ups often!

Love Oil For Lips gives off subtle color (unless you're using Untinted), but if you want to pair it with lipstick for a glossy finish, you can definitely do it. You can also apply it over your favorite lip balm or conditioner. Below we list two Kiehl products that you can use as a base.

Kiehl's lipstick care

This lip care is a great base coat for your lips. Enriched with coconut oil and lemon oil, it can help soften lips and moisturize them abundantly. It lacks tint, so pairing Love Oil For Lips on top can provide extra hydration, glossy coverage, and subtle color.

Kiehl's #1 Cranberry Fragrant Lip Balm

If you suffer from seasonal chapped and dry lips, apply this cranberry scented lip balm before Love Oil For Lips. This temporarily helps soothe dry lips. This lip balm helps protect lips from excessive drying caused by wind and cold weather. This product not only soothes, but also smells good.

Kiehl's Love Oil For Lips Review

During the colder months, dry, chapped lips can be a serious problem. Not only is it unsightly, but it can also be painful and unpleasant. While I swear by the generous application of lip balms, ointments and conditioners, none in my current repertoire boasts a tint or glossy finish like Love Oil For Lips.

I tried all four shades with Untinted and it was hard for me to choose a favorite! Each formula nourished my lips and left behind a natural sheen. It was not glossy, but rather thin and sophisticated. I have reapplied the formula several times throughout the day and have no complaints. While I've been applying Love Oil For Lips alone, I'm looking forward to layering it on top of my other lip care products for even more hydration. Since the skin on the lips does not contain sebaceous glands, it is one of the first areas of the skin to dry out. This is especially true during the bitterly cold winter, so I'm grateful to have Love Oil For Lips in my arsenal now.
