The best $6 I've ever spent on skincare

Confession: Working in the beauty industry, cosmetic companies sent me countless free samples of ridiculously expensive products to review - I know... the worst, right? But, while I love a good $100 serum and more than any other girl, I can safely say that you should never judge a skincare product by its price. Is it a point? The only product I can't live without. Sure, I get a lot of stuff for free, but when it comes to my staple skincare product, I'm always willing to spend my own money.

Even though I'm a skincare freak — I've tried everything from multi-masking to microcurrents to having a beautician smear bovine placenta all over my face in the name of more beautiful skin — I never leave the house without my "face." ". And when I say “face,” I mean multiple layers of makeup—tinted primer with SPF, foundation, under-eye concealer, bronzer, blush, mascara, brows—every damn day. The thing is, I feel best when I'm wearing makeup. That's why, of all the products I buy for myself, the one that constantly rotates every month is make-up removal wipes.

As a beauty editor, I have tested quite a few wipes. From coconut oil-soaked to "gentle" that almost doesn't wash off foundation, let alone mascara. But while I love that I make a living testing and reviewing beauty products, I'm not a fan of trial and error when it comes to facial cleansing. So for the past year, I've been sticking to one brand I buy at my local grocery store once a month: Garnier SkinActive Refreshing Remover Cleansing Towelettes.

Review of Garnier SkinActive Refreshing Remover Cleansing Wipes

Admittedly, what first got me into picking up these wipes was the price—they were selling for $4.99 that day, so the color sold me. But what kept me coming back (even after I lost my way trying something new) was how effective these wipes are compared to others.

Made for normal skin, these soft wipes gently remove almost all of my daily make-up and other impurities from my face - I always end up with a bit of extra mascara because I have buildup issues... I admit it's the first step, right? They contain grape water extract, are oil free and help to revitalize my skin for a healthy look. After I've finished using one of the wipes, I apply micellar water (for the aforementioned residue), toner (because I really love clear skin), moisturizer, and you're done! My skin is happy, I am happy, my wallet is happy. The best $6 I've ever spent on skin care... without a doubt.
