How the famous manicurist takes care of the nails of the stars of the first magnitude

We take care of our skin with cleansers and creams, our body with foam and lotion, but how much do we take care of our nails? If you can't remember the last time you reached for cuticle oil, you'll definitely want to read this. We spoke with celebrity nail technician essie Michelle Saunders, responsible for cuticle care at A-list Tinsel Town, to find out how we should really feel about our nails.

What is important to remember when caring for your nails?

“Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate from within! It is important to use as much moisture and cuticle oil as possible on and around the cuticles.. Nails need moisture too, so be sure to use a non-drying primer like millionnails to help protect them!”

What causes cuticle dryness and how to deal with it?

“Skin dries out throughout the year due to factors such as weather, stress and/or lifestyle. A good quality manicure once every two weeks helps to tame unruly cuticles, but the same can be said for daily application of essie apricot oil. This treatment, containing apricot kernel oil, revitalizes, moisturizes and cares for nails. Absorbs quickly and penetrates into dry places!

If someone's nails are discolored, what's the best way to get them back to normal?

“Nails are porous, so sometimes they absorb color from either nail polish or whatever you do with your hands. Use the light polishing technique with a super soft file to remove the stained layer. Then apply new color corrector for nails, which contains color-correcting pigments to neutralize yellowness on the nails.

How can you take care of your nails between manicures?

“In between manicures, it's important to apply an extra layer of top coat about every three days to maintain shine and hold. I like no chips aheadbecause it's shiny and durable."

What are the biggest mistakes people make when it comes to nail care?

“I have seen some of my clients develop the bad habit of biting or biting their nails and cuticles. If you have hangnails or flaky nails, I suggest you shorten your nails and visit your nail technician regularly to help tame your cuticles. It is very important to moisturize them with cuticle oil between manicures.”
