How to make your own rose water face spray

Facial sprays aren't just for cooling skin during the hot, humid summer months—they're a refreshing way to soothe and hydrate skin during the dry (read: cold) fall and winter months! Ahead, we share a recipe for a mind-blowing DIY rosewater face spray that can be used all year round.

At Skincare.com, we like to think of facial spray the same way we think of lip balm. This means we bring it everywhere, reapply it throughout the day, and we have one for our dressing table, one for our duffel bag, one for our desks, and so on—we almost never leave the house without it. This is because (like our lip balm) facial mist can quickly help us soothe dry skin throughout the day. Not to mention, he feels great after an intense workout. Give your skin an afternoon boost with our DIY Rose Water Face Mist. We'll show you how to do it below.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • 1 glass of distilled water
  • 10-15 drops of aloe vera essential oil
  • 1-3 pesticide-free roses
  • 1 small spray bottle

What are you going to do:

  1. Remove the petals from the stems of the roses and wash them in a colander.
  2. Place the rose petals in a saucepan and cover them with water. Rose petals should be covered with water, but not sink.
  3. Cook over low heat until the roses lose their color.
  4. Strain the liquid and pour into a spray bottle.
  5. Let the solution warm to room temperature before adding 10-15 drops of aloe vera essential oil.
  6. Shake well and apply to skin.
