How one editor uses L'Oréal Paris' new eye serum to smooth the skin around the eyes

When it comes to my skin related issues, my obvious dark circles top the list. I have had them for as long as I can remember, and I have tried, it seems to me, every concealer and Eye cream in the market to disguise them. I recently learned from my dermatologist that my dark circles are structural which means they exist due to my bone structure and very thin skin in this area. While this makes them harder to fix, I'm still willing to try more products that could potentially provide at least a small improvement.

when i got a new one L'Oréal Paris Revitalift Derm Intensives with 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid and 1% Caffeine Eye Serum courtesy of the brand for this review, I was excited to see if using it could improve the appearance of my under eye area. Keep reading to find out more about this product and what I thought after using it.

Formula

You might be wondering how an eye serum is different from an eye cream. We reached out to L'Oreal resident expert Madison Godesky, Ph.D. L'Oreal Paris Senior Scientist for reply. She explained that, like facial serums, eye serums have a high concentration of active ingredients and are designed to treat specific problems. As a general rule, eye serums tend to have a thinner consistency and thinner formulas that absorb into the skin faster than moisturizers.

Company  L'Oréal Paris Revitalift Derm Intensives Serum is an ultra-light serum containing 1.5% hyaluronic acid that perfectly hydrates the skin under the eyes and helps to retain moisture in the skin. It also contains 1% caffeine, which is known to energize the skin and reduce puffiness, as well as niacinamide, which helps fight pigmentation and fine lines and wrinkles. In addition, it comes with a special "triple roller" application that distributes the product and massages the area while feeling cool and refreshing the skin.

My experience

Although I usually have oily skin, my under-eye area is dry, so I assumed that I would apply a moisturizer or eye cream on top of the serum, and I was not mistaken. When I applied it for the first time, I immediately liked the liquid and light texture. The serum made my under eye area smooth, radiant and soft. I've been using it for a few weeks now and while my dark circles haven't cleared the chat yet (according to the brand, the formula can help lighten dark circles over time with consistent use), adding this serum to my routine has made my under eye area appear smoother, less prone to dryness and generally less textured than before. Plus, my concealer glides on easily, which is a real win in my book.
