In 1981, dermatologist Dr. Craig Roberts and his wife, makeup artist Flory, developed Dermablend to meet the needs of their patients with skin problems that are notoriously difficult to solve and hide even with expert skin care and cosmetic knowledge. Combining his knowledge of dermatology and her expertise in makeup, the couple created a line of color cosmetics that helped conceal and mask skin problems ranging from acne to vitiligo. The duo have essentially created a temporary visible solution for various skin problems across a wide range of skin tones.

“We believe in good skincare and in dermatologists and cosmetologists, but skincare has its limits,” says Malena Iguera, General Manager of the brand. "The dermatologist who created Dermablend knew and understood this."

The brand offers men and women long-lasting, high-coverage blendable products and formulas that are fragrance-free, non-comedogenic and suitable for sensitive skin. While the formulas are still top-notch, the brand recently decided to change the look a little, paying homage to its roots: to offer people choice.

Following the no-makeup movement, Dermablend is launching its Beautiful-Beautiful message to promote freedom of choice when it comes to cosmetics. “We don't want the conversation to be about closing or not closing,” Higuera says. "We just want people to know we're here so they can make important choices that they'll really enjoy."

This idea that it's not about helping hide imperfections, but rather about making a personal choice about whether or not you want to wear makeup every day really captures what Beautiful-Beautiful's message is all about. Higera explains that it's about erasing the before and after words because none of them is superior to the other, each one is just a choice you can make every day. “The no-makeup trend gives an unfair advantage to already perfect people,” she says. “When it comes to clear skin, not everyone feels like they can participate.”
