How to deal with dry, cracked skin on legs, arms and elbows

Keep your shower short

Company American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) states that short showers and baths, using a mild cleanser, and choosing warm rather than hot water temperatures can help prevent dry skin.

Pay Attention to Skin Care Ingredients

The AAD stresses that those with dry, chapped skin should pay close attention to the ingredients in their skin care products. Avoid products that contain dehydrating and potentially irritating ingredients such as alcohol, fragrances, and harsh sulfates.

Use a humidifier

Moisturizers can benefit your skin throughout the year, but are especially helpful when your skin needs extra hydration in the fall and winter. AAD suggests using a humidifier to add much-needed moisture to the air to help relieve dry, chapped skin.

Moisturize your skin regularly and use medicated ointments

A moisturizer or lotion can help replenish and lock in moisture. AAD recommends applying hand cream after washing your hands. We love allergy tests Hand cream La Roche-Posay Cicaplast because it not only moisturizes with shea butter and glycerin, but also helps soften damage from cold weather and frequent hand washing. When it comes to feet and elbows, moisturize these areas as needed, especially after taking a bath or shower while your skin is still slightly damp.

If you have chapped or chapped skin and your cream or lotion isn't helping, use a soothing balm, such as CeraVe Healing Ointment. It is designed to relieve irritation and severe dryness, as well as to restore the skin barrier.
