How to Change Your Skin Care for the Winter

It's no secret that one of the biggest skin care complaints we hear during the colder months is dry, flaky skin. As weather conditions change, it is important update your skin care include rich, moisturizing formulas. Check out XNUMX easy tips to help you save skincare problems in winter in fear

TIP 1: Double the humidity

Use creams and moisturizers to help hydrate your skin and prevent flaking. We recommend looking for formulas that contain moisturizing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, ceramides, essential oils and/or glycerin. For example, we love Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream because it provides up to 24 hours of hydration for a soft, smooth, healthy complexion.

In addition to moisturizing your skin with a moisturizer twice a day, try using a nourishing face mask two to three times a week. Lancôme Rose Jelly Hydrating Night Mask is an intensely hydrating formula based on hyaluronic acid, rose water and honey. Apply a generous amount to dry clean skin at night and wake up in the morning with soft and supple skin.

TIP 2: Beware of artificial heating

While it can be nice to snuggle up to a heater in the winter, this ritual can dry out our skin. Scaly feet and hands, chapped hands, chapped lips, and rough skin texture can result from prolonged exposure to hot air. To avoid the negative effects of artificial heating, buy a humidifier. This can help offset some of that moisture loss in the air while you have your heating on. We also recommend using a facial mist to quickly hydrate your skin throughout the day. Try Pixi Beauty Hydrating Milky Mist.

TIP 3: Protect your skin before going outside

Harsh temperatures can seriously damage your skin. Be sure to protect your face from the cold wind every time you go outside by wearing a scarf, hat, and gloves.

TIP 4: Don't Skip SPF

Your skin should always be protected from UV rays, no matter the weather or season. In fact, SPF is especially important in the winter because the sun can bounce off the snow and cause sunburn. We recommend switching to a richer formula with SPF 30 or higher, such as CeraVe Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 30.

TIP 5: Don't Forget Your Lips

The delicate lips in your crease do not have sebaceous glands, making them even more susceptible to drying out. Choose your favorite moisturizing lip balm - we recommend Kiehl's No. 1 Lip Balm - and apply it in a thick layer as needed.
