Personal Skin Care: Kiehl's Pharmaceuticals Become Personal
Overview of Kiehl's Pharmaceutical Products
The new in-store service is a throwback to the original Kiehl's - an 1851-era Kiehl's - where shoppers came to get handcrafted, custom-made prescriptions from New York City's favorite apothecary. Fast forward to 2016 and this personalized level of service is still relevant with the new addition of Pharmaceuticals. A reference to a personalized past plus an infusion The latest and greatest in modern skincare, this store service should not be missed. Even better? The consultation is absolutely free! I recently visited Kiehl's flagship store on Third Avenue to check out the new service and try the bespoke serum, and I love it.
The service begins with an expert consultation, during which a customer service representative - Hey Lenny! - answer a series of questions using a dermatologist-inspired skin atlas to evaluate and rank skin problems. Once you have identified your two main concerns (mine were texture and pore size), your consultant will select the appropriate targeted complexes to accompany a skin firming concentrate that you can purchase and mix at home.
There are five powerful targeted complexes (note: these cannot be applied directly to the skin) that can be mixed to create a targeted serum just for you:
- Anti-wrinkle complex - Formulated with retinol concentrate and pro-retinol. When you choose this complex in your serum, you can only apply the serum at night (any other combination can be applied in the morning and/or evening) and you will need to apply SPF every morning - something you should do every day anyway.
- Texture processing complex - rich in vitamin F and LHA. This complex targets the appearance of the skin using vitamin F, a blend of unsaturated fatty acids, and LHA, an acidic derivative of salicylic acid known for its ability to gently exfoliate the surface of the skin.
- Visible Redness Neutralizing Complex – contains sunflower seed extract and vitamin E. This option helps soothe and soothe the skin.
- Complex for narrowing the pores – contains sanfira extract and salicylic acid. This blend works to reduce excess oil on the surface of the skin and reduce the appearance of large pores.
- Brightening Complex - contains vitamin C and Scotch pine extract. With this complex, you will help restore radiance.
Once combined, you blend both targeted complexes in a Skin Firming Concentrate, which is a moisturizing blend of Kiehl's signature ingredient Squalene and a Skin Lipid Complex, a blend of vegetable oils and rich in fatty acids. My serum, which has my name very neatly printed on the label and box, included a Texture Cleansing Complex and a Pore Refining Complex. Needless to say, it will be difficult to go back to using products that are not as personalized.
