The perfect shower experience for skin lovers

Skin care can be a little intimidating (and time consuming), but it doesn't have to be. Whether you're using multi-tasking skincare products or cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing, and more, you can be on your way to clearer, more radiant skin without the distraction of your busy schedule. One of our favorite ways to save time in the morning is to do your skin care routine while you shower. There is so much time between conditioning the strands and shaving off the stubble that can be used for, you guessed it, skin care! Want to know how to take care of your skin in the shower? Keep reading to find out the perfect shower routine for skincare enthusiasts.

Cleans

The whole reason you jumped in the shower in the first place is to cleanse your body of dirt and debris, so why not do the same for your complexion? After cleansing your body with your favorite shower gel, use a mild facial cleanser such as Kiehl's Cucumber Herbal Cleanser. A gentle gel-to-oil cleanser can work to remove dirt and impurities without disturbing your skin's natural pH. Formulated with chamomile, aloe vera and cucumber fruit extracts, this refreshing, lightweight cleansing oil is gentle to soothe and smooth skin.

If you're looking for a body wash that can provide a thorough cleansing of your body's skin - much like a facial cleanser - we recommend Kiehl's Bath & Shower Liquid Body Cleanser. Gentle yet effective cleanser designed to cleanse the skin of the body while keeping it moisturized!

EXHAUST

After cleansing, it's time to exfoliate. It's not something you should do every time you shower or every day, but exfoliating 1-2 times a week (or when tolerated) can up the ante for softer, smoother skin. If you want to save time, you can use a cleanser that has exfoliating properties, or you can spend a few extra minutes in the shower and add a facial scrub such as Kiehl's Pineapple Papaya Facial Scrub. Formulated with luffa cylindrica fruit, also known as Vietnamese gourd, and apricot seed powder, this facial scrub gently removes dry, dead skin cells to leave skin fresh, soft and clean.

In addition to exfoliating your facial skin, you can also exfoliate your body a bit! Just like your complexion, exfoliating the skin on your body can remove dry, dead skin cells and leave skin soft and smooth.

MULTI-MASK

Step aside from bubble baths, showers are the new multimask destination! Once you've cleared your complexion and sloughed off dead skin cells with exfoliation, it's time for a custom mask. We love multimasking because it allows us to hone in on our skin's unique needs for more effective concealment. For areas that appear oily or more blemish-prone, we recommend using a mask that can provide deep cleansing, such as a charcoal mask. If you have areas of your skin that need extra hydration, use a hydrating face mask to hydrate your skin. For more information on multimasking, see our guide here.

If you don't like multi-masking, you can still reap the benefits of masking in the shower without having to apply multiple face masks. Simply take out your face mask - be it a clay mask, charcoal mask, hydrating mask, etc. - and apply to your face. Just be sure to follow the directions on the package for how long to leave it on, how to rinse it out, and so on.

MOISTURIZING

Ready to jump out of the shower and get on with your day? Not so fast. Applying moisturizer to damp skin will help lock in moisture! Before dressing, take a moisturizer and body lotion. For the face we love Kiehl's Ultra Moisturizing Face Cream, as it is made with all skin types in mind and can leave the surface soft and well cared for. For the body, try your favorite Kiehl's Creme de Corps Light Body Lotion. Formulated with jojoba oil, sweet almond oil and olive fruit oil, this body moisturizer helps skin maintain its natural moisture balance to prevent moisture loss.
