This revolutionary wearable can track your pH level

One of the biggest skin care trends what is still gaining momentum is the proliferation of wearable technology. The brands we love have entered the wearables market by developing products that help us address specific skin concerns, from visible signs of aging в protection from environmental aggressors— to ensure that every person's skin is given the greatest possible personal attention.

The La Roche-Posay team has certainly taken the field of wearable skincare technology by storm. Extension from them launch of the world's first wearable product, the brand recently unveiled its latest wearable device - My Skin Track pH - at CES Expo 2019 in Las Vegas. Below, we detail what the award-winning My Skin Track pH Meter is, how it works, and how it can help improve the health of your skin, starting from the inside.

WHAT IS THE PH OF MY SKIN?

Understanding your pH level goes beyond basic chemistry. According to board certified dermatologist and Skincare.com expert Dr. Dandy Engelman, "It's important to understand the pH level of the skin in order to protect the outermost layer of the skin, the acid mantle." Generally, a healthy pH level is an acidic range of 4.5 to 5.5 on a scale of 14. If the acid mantle is disturbed in any way, the skin becomes susceptible to environmental aggressors, which causes various negative effects such as wrinkles, dull complexion . , or even eczema– that the natural barrier is designed to stabilize.

This tool can inspire consumers to adopt healthier skincare habits and provide healthcare professionals with a whole new way to recommend skincare regimens.

This is where pH My Skin Track comes in. Still in the prototype stage, the wearable is a thin, flexible sensor that measures pH balance using a companion app. Both work in tandem to provide recommendations that can help users adjust their pH if it gets rejected. “pH is a key indicator of skin health,” says Professor Thomas Luger, Head of the Department of Dermatology at the University of Münster, Germany, “this tool can inspire consumers to adopt healthier skin care habits and empower healthcare professionals with an entirely new way to recommend skin care regimens.” ".

HOW DOES MY SKIN TRACK PH WORK?

Embodying La Roche-Posay's belief that healthy skin starts from within, the My Skin Track pH Sensor is a sensor that can attach directly to the skin using microfluidic technology. Once attached, the sensor reads the pH level, taking into account the amount of sweat produced by the pores. This information is then translated by the My Skin Trace UV pH app, where users can learn more about their pH levels, the steps they can take to restore their pH balance, as well as what products can help them along the way. All of this is done in no less than fifteen minutes, far from the days it would take to send a sweat sample to a lab for analysis.

We strive to bring scientific progress directly to consumers to help them take care of their skin. The microfluidic technology behind My Skin Track pH has been in development for almost two decades. Epicore Biosystems, the brand's partner in this endeavor, has developed materials to learn more about the effects of pH on the skin and how addressing it can help with the skin conditions it causes. “This new prototype represents the next step in the evolution of La Roche-Posay beauty technology,” said Laetitia Tupe, Global CEO of La Roche-Posay. leather."

HOW TO USE MY SKIN TRACK PH

Simply place the My Skin Track pH sensor on the inside of your arm until the center dots are in color (five to fifteen minutes). Then open the appropriate My Skin Track pH app to take a photo of the sensor so it can read the pH sensor. Based on the app readings, La Roche-Posay will be able to provide appropriate lifestyle and product recommendations to help you get your pH back on track.
