Is this the best micellar water for dry skin?

You've probably heard of micellar water, a no-rinse cleanser and make-up remover that first hit the spot in France and has since become a staple in cosmetics stores and skincare arsenals in the US. With all the buzz around micellar water and, unsurprisingly, all the different formulas to choose from, we wanted to share the benefits of one particular micellar water formulated for dry skin types. Our friends at CeraVe gave the Skincare.com team a free sample of their moisturizing micellar water and we took it for a test drive. If you're a fan of cleansers that don't dry out your skin, you should be! - you'll want to continue reading our full CeraVe Hydrating Micellar Water product review.

Benefits of micellar water

What makes micellar water so unique is the fact that it contains micelles, small cleansing molecules that bond with each other to remove dirt, oil and makeup from the surface of the skin in one fell swoop. By combining micelles to easily remove impurities, most micellar waters are gentle on the skin and do not require harsh rubbing, tugging or even rinsing. This simple yet effective cleanser is a real blessing for women on the go as it can provide quick and painless cleansing which we all know is a must step in all skin care routines.

There is also a particular benefit of micellar water for dry skin. While many traditional cleansers can rob the skin of vital moisture, gentle micellar waters are known not to. In fact, some even contain ingredients that moisturize the skin so that your skin is not dry and damp after use, but hydrated and comfortable.

Why you should try CeraVe Moisturizing Micellar Water

While this cleanser includes all the expected benefits of micellar water, its formula stands out for several reasons. First, hydrating micellar water contains three essential ceramides (like all CeraVe products), hyaluronic acid and niacinamide. Vitamin B3, also known as niacinamide, helps soothe the skin, while hyaluronic acid helps maintain the skin's natural moisture. As for what the formula can do, expect it to cleanse, hydrate, remove makeup, and help repair the skin barrier. As an added bonus, this ultra-gentle cleanser, formulated with dermatologists, is non-drying, paraben-free, fragrance-free, and non-comedogenic, meaning it won't clog pores.

Recommended for:Skin type from normal to dry.

Why we love it: The first time I used the formula, I immediately noticed how soft it felt on my skin. I have dry, sensitive skin, so my skin-cleansing options sometimes feel a bit limited. Moreover, I need to be careful when it comes to trying out new formulas. But when I saw the words “super mild cleanser” on the packaging of CeraVe Hydrating Micellar Water, I felt comfortable trying it. And I'm so happy I did it! Shortly after cleansing my skin, I felt instantly hydrated. While harsh cleansers can quickly irritate my skin, this mild formula helped cleanse my skin without leaving it feeling tight or dry.

The final verdict: A product that combines the multi-functional benefits of micellar water while hydrating the skin? It's safe to say that I'm a fan. I already put the bottle in my gym bag, along with a couple of cotton pads, so I can easily remove make-up and impurities before I break into a sweat.
