#BrowGoals: 9 Foods to Try for Beautiful Brows

Care and shaping: tweezers and a light touch

The real story: I was born with big eyebrows that I managed to pluck out of nowhere around the time when girl groups were popular in pop music and bow ties were the only acceptable way to decorate your hair. Luckily, by the time I started high school, I had a friend who broke the news to me—not so gently—that my eyebrows most closely resembled tadpoles, and that it wasn’t good for me… or anyone else in this respect. Thus began the summer when I grew my eyebrows back (and, in fact, went into hiding).

Now, having learned from my mistake, I never overdo it when grooming my brows. I get rid of random hairs that grow next to the unibrow and those that grow right under the eyebrow line, but everything else remains in place! Often the natural shape you were born with looks best on you. A professional tip I've learned over the years is to not groom your brows while looking in a magnifying mirror, as it's a quick way to get clumsy and pluck more than you'd like, and even potentially have uneven brows when you're done. .

If you don't tend to pluck your own brows, but still want to have perfect brows, be sure to get an expert to help you shape and size your brows. (You can always just follow this plan as you move forward!)

To fill in any sparse areas: eyebrow pomade

Even if you have great shaped brows, if they are sparse in some areas, you will want to fill them in to get the perfect brow look. For this, lipstick or eyebrow powder is perfect. Lipstick gives you a bold look and the ability to shape and tame at the same time. We love the frame and the L'Oréal Paris Brow Stylist Frame & Set. The waterproof lipstick comes with an extra brush to help you define and fill in your brows and a shading coil to help you blend your brow makeup.

To make eyebrows more expressive: eyebrow pencil

While we may not all be born with spectacular brows, with the right product, we can definitely rock them as if we were! Eyebrow crayons are great for enhancing the look of brows, and L'Oréal Paris Brow Stylist Kabuki Blender is available at your local pharmacy. Available in three shades - blonde, brunette and dark brunette - the creamy brow pencil glides smoothly over the skin for fast, even application. You can mix the chalk with the other side's kabuki blender to get a soft, full brow.

To Define Your Arches: Eyebrow Pencil

For fans of old school brows, there is no better tool than an eyebrow pencil. Eyebrow pencils allow you to precisely define and shape the arches, giving them a natural look. If you're looking for an eyebrow pencil, check out Yves Saint Laurent Beauty Dessin Des Sourcils. The double-ended precision pencil has a brow pencil (available in four shades) on one end and a brow brush on the other to help you groom and blend. The velvety formula, enriched with coconut oil, is the perfect addition to any cosmetic bag!

To tame stray hairs: brow gel (clear or tinted)

If you don't care about filling in your brows, but want them to look well-groomed and neat, use brow gel. These sheer mascara-like products will help you tame unruly brows and smooth out stray hairs. One of those gels we love NYX Professional Makeup Control Freak. The gel helps to tame unruly brows and its sheer formula works well with any powders or pencils you may have used before. The non-sticky formula can even be used as a no-makeup sheer mascara.

Prefer a tinted brow gel? reach out eyebrow styler Lancome. Created in collaboration with celebrity makeup artist Lisa Eldridge, this brow gel helps thicken brows and define and set brows! The hair brush applicator helps you easily coat and tame your hair with a tinted gel formula.

To highlight your arches: brow highlighter

We often think of highlighter as a way to shape your look with strobing, but if you haven't used a brow highlighter, you're missing out. Highlighters allow you to draw attention to your favorite facial features, and the brow highlighter is no exception - after all, you spent so much time getting your brows perfect, only to get noticed! The Maybelline Brow Precise Perfecting Highlighter comes in three shades - light, medium and dark - to help you define your brows and give them a flawless look. The creamy highlighter has a beveled tip for easy application. You simply follow the natural shape of your brow by applying the highlighter in a smooth motion just below the brow and then above the brow line to define the area. Mix it up and get ready for some serious compliments!

To (practically) do everything on the go: the complete brow kit

Compact metal tweezers, angled mini brow brush, mini spool and two mirrors, plus two shades of brow powder and setting wax. Eyebrow Brow by Urban Decay has everything you need to get gorgeous brows on the go. The all-in-one set comes in six shades and is a must-have for anyone obsessed with their brows.

To remove makeup from the eyebrows: micellar water and clean cotton balls

We always talk about the importance of removing makeup every night before bed, but how often do we focus on removing the product we put on our eyebrows? Just like any other area of skin, you need to clean your eyebrows every night to make sure the follicles don't clog your pores with dirt and impurities like the makeup you put on in the morning. One of our favorite ways to cleanse your brows is to use micellar water. New to micellar water? Check out some of our favorite micellar water formulas to get started!

Favored by the French, no-rinse cleansers are great for use on the go or when you just can't muster enough energy to get out of bed and cleanse your skin. Tiny micelle molecules suspended in a soft water solution attract and trap impurities left on the surface of the skin. Simply apply the solution to a clean cotton swab and gently swipe over your eyebrows – you can cleanse your face the same way. We like to repeat until the cotton swab is clean.
