7 skin care products our editors loved this October

It's a new month, which means new products are showing up in our bathroom cabinets and skin care products. These are the products the Skincare.com editors can't live without this October.

Adapalene acne gel

I've always considered myself lucky when it comes to my skin - at least in the acne area. Even as a teenager, my skin was pretty clear, apart from a monthly hormonal pimple on my chin. My good skin days continued into my 20s and people always complimented my complexion. Then I turned 30 and everything changed. My monthly breakouts have gone from one cystic bump to whole rows of pimples on my chin, chin, forehead and even cheeks. Nothing I've tried has helped. But within a month of using this Adapalene Free Acne Gel (a retinoid that was previously only available by prescription), I already noticed a huge difference. Plus, at $11.99 (MSRP), it's very affordable!

Necessary Sandalwood Body Exfoliator

Body exfoliators are something I've always steered clear of due to my sensitive skin, but since I recently got my eczema under control, I've become more open to trying them out and testing out new ones. One of the exfoliators that landed on my desk was Nécessaire's Sandalwood - its new line of body exfoliators intrigued me because I'm a fan of soothing body cream and I certainly wasn't disappointed. This scrub is very gentle, smells incredible and is so finely ground that it doesn't irritate my skin in the slightest. I think I've found a body exfoliator that works for me and I don't think I'll go back to it.

Garnier Water Rose 24H Moisturizer

Maybe it's autumn, but it's still very hot outside, so I'm taking light moisturizers until further notice. The new Garnier Water Rose 24H Moisture Cream has a sheer water cream texture that absorbs instantly into the skin with a slight cooling sensation. It is formulated with rose water and hyaluronic acid to provide long-lasting hydration and leave skin soft to the touch. It even smells like fresh, real rose water. I use it at the end of my morning skincare routine and before my makeup and love how it smooths out my complexion.

SkinBetter Science Sunbetter™ Tone Smart SPF 68 Compact Sun Cream

I tested a fair amount of facial sunscreen, but I was never so excited to wear and reapply until I tried SkinBetter Science's new Sunbetter™ Tone Smart SPF 68 Sunscreen Compact. This is a 100% mineral-active sunscreen with tone-adaptive pigment that gives your skin a soft, sheer finish. The formula feels smooth and light, almost like a base balm with a clear finish, and can even be worn over makeup. I use it to freshen up my face makeup and I love how easy it blends.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Leave-in Pore Cleansing Toner

On my never ending journey to find products that shrink pores, I stumbled upon (and fell in love with) IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Pore Toner. This new holy grail item has seriously changed my skin care routine. The formula consists of kaolin clay to help absorb excess sebum, coconut water for hydration and silk for skin care. I use it every morning and evening after cleansing and it helps my skin feel smooth, matte and totally fresh.

Holifrog wash

When I started hearing the hype around Holifrog, a new non-toxic line launching with just four hero cleansers, my interest was automatically piqued. Each cleanser is designed for specific skin concerns, and as someone who changes cleansers quite often, I knew I had to try this line. Tashmoo Water Lily Nourishing Milk is great for gentle cleansing in the morning and helps my dry to combination skin not produce excess sebum during the day. I like to alternate this with the Shasta AHA Refining Acid Wash at night, which helps exfoliate and gets all the city debris off my face. The entire line is light, does not foam and is highly addictive.

Tula Skincare Rose Glow Cooling & Illuminating Eye Balm

Tula is one of the newest indie brands I like lately and their latest release is something I never knew I needed. Rose Glow Cooling & Illuminating Eye Balm is a dream come true if you're struggling with puffy eyes in the morning or just want to refresh yourself in the afternoon. Rosehip oil is one of my favorite ingredients for smoothing redness prone skin, so the eye balm immediately attracted me as the oil is the main ingredient. Combining this with other balm ingredients like caffeine and aloe is just a dream for my skin. Refreshes, brightens and hydrates at the same time.
