6 Skin Care Rules Trusted By Celebrity Estheticians

In our endless search healthy, radiant skinwe are always looking to expand our knowledge of the best skin care practices. What products should we use? How often should we cleanse? Do toners work at all? With so many questions and so many things to know, we turn to professionals for advice. That's why we asked the famous beautician Mzia Shiman reveal six secrets of your skin. “In my experience, following these rules and guidelines will always help improve the appearance of your skin,” she says. Without further ado, Shiman's top skincare tips are:

TIP 1: Use the right product for your skin type

Are you less than impressed with your current skincare? You may just not be using the best products for your skin type. “Moisturizers, serums, night creams, etc. should be used depending on the type of skin, after consultation with a beautician or on the recommendation of a dermatologist,” Szyman explains. Before buying anything new, make sure the label says the product is right for your skin type. The fact is that skin care is not universal. Taking more individual approach to your routine it's a great way to make sure you get the radiant results you're after.

TIP 2: Switch Your Moisturizer

ALL your skin care should change with the season, and the most important product you should alternate is moisturizer. “Choose a moisturizer according to the season and the condition of your skin,” Szyman says. “For example, use a thicker, richer product to help your skin survive a dry winter, and use a lighter, more soothing product in the spring. Always consult a beautician before switching to another product; this will help you see better results.” Want to make it easier? Try a soothing water gel moisturizer, such as Lancôme Hydra Zen Anti-stress gel-cream.

TIP 3: Don't skip cleansing and toning

You can have all the products you need at your disposal, but if you put them on a dirty face, you won't get the benefit. Before you go through the steps of your skin care routine, you will first need a blank canvas. “Cleansers and toners are very important for your skin, regardless of skin type, age or gender,” Szyman says. "Always make sure you use them correctly."

Shiman recommends using a soapy detergent such as Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser. Need advice on how to properly clean? We have given details about the best way to wash here.

TIP 4: Use a face mask

To quickly improve your skin care, treat yourself to a home spa facial mask. “Everyone should use a moisturizing soothing mask at least once a week,” Szyman says. You can choose from sheet, clay or gel masks and use them alone or as part of a complex therapy. multimask session in which you target specific skin care concerns by using different masks on different areas of the face.

TIP 5: Exfoliate, Exfoliate, Exfoliate (But Not Too Often)

Not only do you need a clean canvas to give your products the best chance of making a difference, but you also need skin free of dry, dead skin cells – and exfoliation does both. “Try to exfoliate your skin once or twice a week, especially during warmer months—unless you have breakouts,” Szyman recommends. Exfoliation can be done in one of two ways: chemical exfoliation with products that contain skin care acids or enzymes, or physical exfoliation with products that gently remove buildup.

TIP 6: Protect your skin

The main cause of premature skin aging is the sun. These UV rays not only cause fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots to appear long before expected, but can also lead to more serious skin damage such as sunburn and skin cancer. Beauticians end their facials with a broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect the skin from these aggressors, and your skincare should end the same way. Every day—whether it rains or shines—end your routine by applying an SPF product such as L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Triple Power Broad Spectrum SPF 30, and reapply as directed (usually every two hours when in the sun).
