1. Characteristics of the labia

The labia play a very important role in the anatomical structure of the female genital organs. There are large labia, that is, external, and small labia, that is, internal. There are times when a specialist can detect enlarged labia. Then the length of the lips from the base to the edge is more than 4 cm. There are also opposite situations. In such situations, the labia are too small. Both the first and second situations can be corrected by making a correction, for example, plastic surgery of the labia.

1.1. large labia

The labia majora are two folds of skin with adipose tissue that are visible to the naked eye in every woman.

The labia is a very vascular organ, so not only is it very sensitive to touch and interaction, but it is also very susceptible to various types of skin irritation and inflammation. That is why it is so important to observe the rules of personal hygiene.

1.2. smaller labia

Small labia, as the name implies, differ from the first in size and are located right at the entrance to the vagina. It's just a pink skin fold. Both the labia and others are the "guardians" of the vagina.

Sometimes it happens that the small labia protrude above the large ones, but there is nothing alarming about this, because each woman has a different, individual the shape of the labia.

2. Too small labia

Sometimes there are such cases that the labia are very small. Such structure of the female body this is also perfectly normal, but may cause some problems. Usually labia too small they occur in very thin women who have almost no adipose tissue.

Today, even such an ailment can be cured. A plastic surgeon, by introducing a woman's adipose tissue, can model the shape of the labia and pubic mound. The cost of such a procedure is about PLN 4000.

3. Hypertrophy of the labia

Hypertrophy of the labia, smaller or larger, can be the cause of many complexes. It happens that women suffering from this disorder have low self-esteem and are reluctant to have sexual intercourse. In some patients, enlarged labia cause discomfort or physical pain. Gynecologists distinguish:

  • asymmetric hypertrophy,
  • unilateral hypertrophy,
  • bilateral hypertrophy.

4. Causes of hypertrophy of the labia

There can be many reasons for labia enlargement. In most cases, overgrown labia, larger or smaller, are a birth defect, which means that genetics affects their pathological appearance and the woman has no influence on this. Other causes of labia hypertrophy include:

  • multiple pregnancy,
  • hormone therapy,
  • intense sex life
  • frequent masturbation,
  • wearing intimate jewelry (for example, earrings in the labia area),
  • intimate disease called myelodysplasia,
  • endocrine disorders.

Frequent vaginal infections, both bacterial and viral, can also cause hypertrophy of the labia majora or less. In some situations, the labia majora may be enlarged as a result of skin irritation caused by urinary incontinence.

5. Infection of the labia

Sometimes small spots, fluid bubbles or purulent rashes may appear on the labia. In such a situation, you should consult a doctor, because these changes are most often the result of bacterial infections of the skin and the doctor will prescribe appropriate tests that will help determine which bacteria we are facing and how to cure it.

6. Correction of hypertrophied labia

6.1. Labioplasty

Labiaplasty, or plastic surgery of the labia, is becoming an increasingly popular procedure in aesthetic medicine. During the procedure, patients are guided by aesthetic, practical and often health considerations. Indications for labioplasty may include:

  • hypertrophy of the labia minora,
  • hypertrophy of the labia majora,
  • asymmetry of the labia,
  • atrophy of the labia minora,
  • atrophy of the labia majora.

Thanks to labioplasty, the labia can be given a symmetrical, attractive and expected look by the patient. Large or small labia, which are pathologically enlarged, return to their natural size.

The following diseases are contraindications to labioplasty:

  • hypertension,
  • vascular diathesis,
  • blood clotting problems
  • purulent infections of the mucous membranes or skin,
  • tumor,
  • diabetes.

Among other contraindications, doctors also mention pregnancy, lactation and systemic connective tissue diseases.

Unfortunately, labioplasty is a procedure that is not reimbursed by the National Health Fund, only in a few of the most difficult cases, the doctor can refer you to an operation within the framework of the fund. The cost of the procedure in a private gynecological clinic is about PLN 3.

6.2. Laser revitalization of the labia

Labia laser revitalization is a great alternative for women who do not want to have surgery. The use of laser therapy, which uses the latest technology today, is the safest and most popular method of labiaplasty. This method greatly improves patient comfort.

During the procedure of laser revitalization of the labia, collagen in the mucous membrane is stimulated, which makes the tissues stretched.

It is a minimally invasive procedure, ensuring the accuracy of the procedure performed and, above all, requiring a short recovery time. Such labia surgery performed under local anesthesia. It is recommended to spend the first 4-5 days after the procedure in bed.
