It is better to do a preliminary drawing on an additional sheet of paper (I used an office sheet), and then transfer it so as not to injure the surface of the watercolor sheet. This paper is very dense and practically does not warp at all even from repeated wetting with water, so I did not fix the sheet at all. After transferring the drawing, we apply water to the background with a soft flat brush, trying not to touch the bird and flowers (especially flowers - they must remain white almost until the end of work). Before the water has dried, apply color spots on a damp surface. We use mixtures of green, ocher, ultramarine and a little violet-pink. On cotton paper, the paint spreads surprisingly softly, leaving no stains or streaks. Our goal is to achieve a very blurry and, at the same time, varied background color.

While the paint layer is fresh, with a small brush we apply drops of alcohol to the background, which will give us an additional effect in the form of small round white spots - like sunbeams.

After the background, let's take on the leaves. We will draw them on dry paper using a medium brush and all the same green, ocher, ultramarine and add cobalt blue.

How to paint spring in watercolor Let's not forget about the main character of our drawing. For poultry we use red ocher, iron oxide light red and again green, ocher and cobalt blue. If you need to darken the background around the bird, first apply water to the right place, and only then touch the background with paint - the paint spreads remarkably over cotton paper, no matter when you decide to moisten the sheet. And do not forget about the "sunbeams" - we put specks of alcohol on the background so that it flickers beautifully.

For the eye we use sepia. For the twig, a mixture of sepia and violet-pink.

For the beak and paws, we again take sepia.

How to paint spring in watercolor We begin in some places to “strengthen” the background, while not forgetting to moisten the surface of the sheet. At the same time, we touch the flowers very carefully - for them we use a mixture of ocher with purple-pink.

Let's not forget about the shadows on the bird. We carefully monitor that the bird in some places is darker than the background, and in some places the background is darker than the bird.

And at the very end of the work, we will very carefully take care of the flowers. We use a mixture of ocher with violet-pink and ocher with ultramarine.
