Anti-tragus piercing - questions and answers

Looking for a unique and fun way to express your personality and style? Then Anti tragus piercing might be just what you are looking for.

But before you choose one path or the other, let's delve into what exactly this piercing is and isn't, and answer all of Newmarket's most burning questions about this interesting addition to their bodies.

What is a bridge/antitragus piercing?

A tragus piercing, or tragus piercing, creates a perforation in the inner cartilage of the ear proximal to the earlobe that faces the tragus. If this all sounds a bit complicated, trust us, it's not.

Do you know this piece of cartilage and the protrusion or "protrusion" just above and slightly back from the earlobe? Well, that's where this piercing is located. Opposite your tragus, hence the term anti-tragus.

Those people with a well-defined "bulge" that is on the thinner side are usually the best candidates for this type of piercing. For those people in whom antitragus is not very noticeable, they may want to consider other options.

What type of jewelry is required for a tragus piercing?

The typical type of jewelry used is Press fit 16-14 gauge or female post, but the location makes it unique both for display and as an ideal place for decorative decorations.

Other possibilities include:

  • Curved rods
  • Circular horseshoe bars
  • Spiral rods
  • and hairpins

What are the reasons/pros of tragus piercing?

Considering a tragus piercing? Here's why this option has become more popular:

  • Unique and stylish
  • Large selection of jewelry
  • Quick and easy process, healing can be long and difficult
  • No need to do both ears

How is the piercing process going?

When it comes to the act of getting pierced, a lot of people worry about "the unknown". But fear not, the process is quick, simple, and mostly painless (although pain is subjective and depends on the individual).

After signing the relevant consent documents, you will be taken to the piercing studio where the actual procedure will be performed. From there, you will sit in a comfortable and relaxing chair (similar to those used in doctors' offices).

Thoroughly clean the skin with a special skin preparation, mark the position after a few measurements, and then once you have given us your approval, we will reprepare the skin in preparation for the piercing.

This type of piercing is done using a straight or curved sterilized piercing needle against the tragus. After the needle has passed and been removed, an ornament of your choice will be placed in its place.

See, fast, simple and nothing to be afraid of

Will this piercing transfer or will my body reject it?

As for migration, no. Over the years, it may become weaker, but nothing particularly noticeable.

When it comes to "rejection", as with any foreign object introduced into your body, there is always the possibility of a reaction. If you suspect, go for a checkup. And the piercer will remove it if it's safe.

If you are located in Newmarket, Ontario or nearby areas and you're worried about your piercing, come on to chat with a team member and we'd be happy to take a look and offer our advice.

If your piercing needs to be removed, stick with a jeweler as you can replace it once your original piercing has healed.

The good news is that any pain is usually short-lived, as the process is entirely worth it. After the piercing, you may experience some swelling, redness, and irritation, but this should not cause you much discomfort.

How to care for an anti-tragus piercing

It is always wise to continue with proper post-operative care as prescribed by the piercer, including regular cleaning and washing of the area around the area.
