Mister Beast

On October 12, over 130 years ago, Aleister Crowley was born. A madman who called himself the Beast and developed the rules of modern magic.

There are many stories about Crowley. In any case, he himself composed the most incredible stories about himself and then distributed them. He returned to the front pages of the tabloids. And he, heating up the tension, was stubbornly silent. This lack of comment infuriated his opponents. What did Crowley deserve for this?

When he was in his twenties, he called himself the Beast. This is how he reacted to a toxic childhood. His father, a haunted preacher, told him to memorize a large amount of the Bible. As an adult, Crowley denied the existence of God. Some said he was a follower of Satan. Nothing could be more wrong. There is no God, there is no Satan - that was Crowley's credo. He himself believed that in man there is a masculine and feminine principle; the coolest thing is when both connect with each other - then there is harmony. And the best way to connect is through sex.

They said about him: a lover of orgies, even the Duce Mussolini kicked him out of Italy for this. And Crowley was just experimenting. He wanted to levitate, to go out of his body, to manipulate energy, because he had read about it in old manuscripts. He studied Yijing, ancient Buddhist books, was interested in all kinds of magical rituals. He wrote extensively about how to be a follower of what is hidden in the modern world, what gives a person contact with magic and why it is worth freeing yourself from your limitations.

Crowley died in 1947, but his ideas continue to stir emotions and his fan club continues to grow. In the 70s, they were admired by flower children and musicians. Jimmy Page, frontman of Led Zeppelin, bought and lived in Crawley's villa. David Bowie called him his guru, even the Beatles put his picture on Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Group." His latest fan is the demonic Marilyn Manson, who allegedly starts the concert with memories of his crazy idol.
