By the way, it was very exciting…  Calming properties of poppy seeds made it a symbol of deep sleep, even lethargy. In ancient mythology, he was an attribute of the god of dreams, Hypnos. And the son of Hypnos is Morpheus, dreaming of dreams. It was in his honor that one of the components of opium, morphine, was named. 

Poppies grew on the banks of Lethe, the river of oblivion. This is probably where the expression comes from: Silently, like a poppy seed sown. Hush, because everyone is either asleep or... dead. However, a dream can also bring visions, so this flower was chosen by magicians, sorcerers and all those who deal with contacts with the world of invisible beings.

Poppy in folk magic

The poppy allegedly helped to become invisible ... To do this, its seeds had to be soaked in wine for 15 days, and then only drink this wine for the next 5 days. However, you can't overdose on poppy potions, because there is a risk of falling into madness and hallucinations, like after casting a spell…!! 

Poppy can also be used as an amulet against ghosts, ghouls and other inhabitants of the underworld. Associated with death, it was an integral part of the dishes served at the wake, it was brought to the graves as a sacrifice for the dead, as a gift to lost souls. He had to keep them away from the living. 

The blessed poppy, in turn, protected cattle from witches. In some regions of Poland, such poppies were laid out in front of the cowshed. The witch who wanted to break into the barn had an obsessive desire to first count all the seeds. But before she could do that, it was daylight, or under the indulgent properties of the poppy... she was fast asleep. 

Poppy will cause prophetic dreams

When you are faced with an important choice or want to get important information, you can reach for poppy seeds. Thanks to its power, you will remember the answer in a dream ... 

Take: sheet of paper, blue ink, poppy.

• Write a question on a piece of paper, describe the problem that is bothering you.
• Then sprinkle the leaf with poppy seeds and roll or crush into a ball so that the grains do not fall out.
• At night, put the scroll under your pillow and put yourself in the care of Morpheus. This will make you dream of a prophetic dream or one in which you will receive the guidance you need.

Ritual for an abundance of poppies

Specially harvested poppies will become a talisman that attracts good luck and wealth! 

Take three poppies, red ribbon, gold paint.

• Dry the poppies and then paint them gold.
• Then tie it with red ribbon and hang it on the window that gets the most sunlight during the day. 
• To stimulate energy (and cash flow), push them several times a day.
