"Imperial Emerald" in 206 carats

Luxury jewelery firm Bayco Jewels unveiled a natural 206-carat Colombian emerald, dubbed "Imperial" on the opening day of Baselworld 2013.

Company owners Maurice and Giacomo Hadjibay (Moris and Giacomo Hadjibay), reported that this emerald is one of the most unique stones of all time. The brothers also said that it was purchased from a private collector who owned the stone for about 40 years. However, they refused to disclose the price that was paid for such a valuable item. The history of the origin of the emerald also remains a mystery.

“We gave our hearts for him,” said Maurice sincerely.

The brothers said that the purchase of the emerald is also a tribute to their father, Emir, who was an Iranian by nationality and moved to Italy in 1957, where he soon opened a company. Bayco has specialized in creating one-of-a-kind jewelry, using gemstones of exceptional quality and beauty.
