Tattoo and pain

Not everyone is equal in the face of pain

Many tattoo artists will tell you that you have to earn a tattoo and that you pay twice for it! Which ? Yes, tattoo is not free, and getting under the needles is painful.

Pain is by far one of the most subjective concepts, that is, from one person to another, we are not all equal when it comes to a dermatologist who paints your skin. Thus, we deal with pain in different ways, and like any change in the body, our state of mind and fitness play an important role.

What are the most painful areas?

Although the pain experienced by getting a tattoo is perceived differently by different people, certain parts of the body are known to cause particularly severe pain. In general, these are the places where the skin is thinnest:

  • Inside the forearms
  • Inside the bicep
  • The coasts
  • Inner thighs
  • The inner part of the fingers
  • Feet

The genitals, eyelids, armpits, along the spine and the top of the skull are tattooed less often, but no less painful.

Conversely, there are areas where pain is much more bearable. For example, we can talk about parts of the body that are protected by more skin, flesh, and muscles: shoulders, forearms, back, calves, thighs, buttocks, and abdomen.

Correct attitude towards yourself

Going to a tattoo session is like preparing for a big sporting event: you can't improvise. There are some very simple rules to follow, some of which will help you better understand and deal with pain.

First of all, you need to relax! Several hundred million people have tattoos and have never said that getting hit by needles was the most painful ordeal of their lives.

Avoiding stress is the first way to handle pain better. Take some rest for the old woman from the tattoo session and, above all, do not drink alcohol (neither the day before, nor the same day, for that matter)!

Be sure to eat well before doing this because the first few minutes can be stressful and replenishing.

Ban sedatives and all drugs in general, as well as cannabis use: fireworks and tattoos are incompatible.

Finally, there are pain relieving creams and sprays, but we do not recommend them because they change the texture of the skin, which can also change the appearance of the tattoo after the session, making it harder for the tattoo artist.

So, without being able to guarantee that your tattoo will be painless, TattooMe is still hoping to allay some of your fears about getting hit by needles.
